October 23, 200619 yr Hello,Just a quick Rah-Rah to Carenado - I moved three of their FS9 planes to FSX. They all work 100% - they have better FPS than any other aircraft I have tried in FSX. I only bought 1 FSX addon - Eaglesoft Liberty as a test. It works fine but is no where near the performance of the Carenado aircraft. In defense of the Liberty - it is obviously more complex in the panel logic.Anyway - just a quick good word for the good people at Carenado.Cheers,Ron Sagel
October 23, 200619 yr some hand-clappin' from me, too. carenado cessnas are the only fs9 crates i was able to move. no performance hit and good looks to match the rest of fsx
October 23, 200619 yr The other good news, and FSX needs it, is so far all the planes Ive been able to move over from FS9 to X seem to run as good or in alot of cases BETTER.Im starting to think the default planes are also fps hungry.

October 24, 200619 yr Would you mind telling us exactly what you moved and where?I looked at the gauge folder in FS9 and just didnt know which ones to move and where.RegardsBob
October 24, 200619 yr I would like to know also, wish someone would write a brief how-to.Thanks for your time.ed "It's ALL about Flying" i7-9700k @5ghz | 32gb Gskill Ripjaw 5 DDR4 3000 | Nvidia RTX 4080 | W10 Pro | Samsung 32" 4K TV | Virpil Throttle & Pedals | Winwing Stick
October 24, 200619 yr gentlemen, there are several how-tos already. the avsim search function is great!in a nutshell, open the aircraft's cfg files (most notably panel.cfg) and port the files referenced there. carenado has a very clear gauge naming scheme--you'll find them easily, just read panel.cfgthe cessnas have no issues. the pipers show a bright green "halo" around the window vent, probably an incompatible transparency artifact
October 24, 200619 yr Author I moved my T-34 Mentor over and it works GREAT except for the wing lights in the 2D cockpit right and left views. Cheers for them!! Regards, Bob.
October 24, 200619 yr yeah they work but i have problems with the 2d cockpit, it doesn't always show specially when your in the air. I hope someone can tell me how to fix this problem.
October 24, 200619 yr Author My Mentor 2D panel stays in the air with no problem. I usually fly from it and have never lost it yet. Regards, Bob.
October 24, 200619 yr that is very strange, what happens when u switch to VC and then back does that work ? Because it doesn't work for me for some reason, then the 2d panel doesn't show.
October 24, 200619 yr Ok here is what happens, sometimes the panel shows but like when i switched from 2d to VC and then to outside view and then going back to 2d then it doesn't show the panel, after a while it finally shows. Also when landing the panel disappears, and that is only the 2d panel. I think it has something to do with the refres or the simulation of moving forward and backward, you know the head simulation.
October 24, 200619 yr I moved my T-34 over to FSX and with a few tweaks to the aircraft.cfg file managed to add a true "back seat" position. Not too terribly difficult as it turns out. Carenado already did a fair amount of work duplicating the gauges and control movements in the back seat already.Add the following somewhere after the 'General' section and before the 'flight_tuning' section:(bracket)CameraDefinition.001(bracket)Title = "Back Seat"Guid = {79bf1be8-6314-11db-967b-00e08161165f}Origin = Virtual CockpitMomentumEffect = YesSnapPbhAdjust = SwivelSnapPbhReturn = FalsePanPbhAdjust = SwivelPanPbhReturn = FalseTrack = NoneShowAxis = YESAllowZoom = TRUEInitialZoom = 0.5SmoothZoomTime = 2.0ZoomPanScalar = 1.0ShowWeather = YesXyzAdjust = TRUEShowLensFlare=FALSECategory = CockpitPitchPanRate=100HeadingPanRate=100InitialXyz=0.0, 0.0, -1.2InitialPbh=3, 0, 0replace the part that says (bracket) with left and right brackets of course...Do this for both your aircraft.cfg files in the MENTOR and MENTORNAVY folders and all your variants will pick up the change too. Can't claim credit for the whole addition myself. Got some help from other folks on the Avsim forums. Turns out it's really really easy to set up.BTW, turns out the GUID is just a unique number (same as the ones you scenery designers use to assign to objects). Apparently it's just an arbitrary reference that allows the view menu to display your new view (by title).P.K.
October 24, 200619 yr thanks that is definatly great to have, does this also work for the right seat in planes ??And do you happen to know how to get the 2d panel working as it should ? See my above posts regarding the problem.
