August 7, 20205 yr Ah....It's good to see that MSFS2020 has indicators that can be toggled on for airport locations and various landmarks around the world. The indicators remind me of a wonderful program that was in FSX called FSDiscover. I used that program all the time and became aware of great landmarks around the world. Airport locations came in handy when flying VFR as well. I tried to email the author and developer of that program to get it for P3d, but he didn't answer me, and all indications were that it wouldn't be developed for P3d. My excitement for this sim is growing day by day, and the 18th couldn't come soon enough. I am sure that others who have used FSDiscover have missed it and hopefully they are as excited as I am for this superlative feature built into our new sim. Stan ps. Is MSFS2020 going to be available on the 17th of August on the East Coast? I'd like to make sure I stay up for that release. Edited August 7, 20205 yr by spilok

Over time it became an essential tool for me, It let me discover landmarks that i missed hundreds of times while flying my routes, sometimes they were only a few miles beside my usual routes. MSI MPG Z490 Gaming Plus | Intel Core i9-10900K @ 5.3GHz | 64GB Corsair Vengeance | Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3090 | 500 GB M.2 NVMe for win | 2TB M.2 NVMe for FS2024 | TrackIr v5 | Honeycomb Alpha & Bravo | Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog Eric from EHAM, a flying Dutchman.
August 8, 20205 yr I agree the landmark indicators are a nice addition. I wouldn't want to have them activated all the time though because it would take away from the immersion. So I hope there is a hotkey to temporarily turn them on and then off again during flight without having to bother with opening the menus. Edited August 8, 20205 yr by RALF9636

I did get that but the indicators are massive....they really interfere with the scenery. From what I've seen in MFS, they appear less obtrusive. I've also used this other method for getting Airports to display in P3d. It won't show landmarks, but will display airports. It requires changing an entry in local App data controls and setting up the activation in FSUIPC. There's a couple of steps - first - locate the STANDARD.XML file in your C:\Users\xxxxxx\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\Controls folder - edit it and search for CTRL+SHIFT+P mine looks like this: <Entry> <Key>CTRL+SHIFT+P</Key> <Down>POSITION_FREEZE_USER</Down> </Entry> change it to this <Entry> <Key>CTRL+SHIFT+P</Key> <Down>TOGGLE_AIRPORT_NAME_DISPLAY</Down> </Entry> and save it. Now all you need do is use the keyboard or assign it to a button. If you map through FSUIPC you can directly assign TOGGLE_AIRPORT_NAME_DISPLAY to a button This works in V4 and V5 with no problem. It does produce very small red airport indicators for airports. Wish I could make the text bigger, but haven't figured out a way to do this. Stan Edited August 8, 20205 yr by spilok
