Full 787 Flight (8 hours) Heathrow - Dubai

Featured Replies

The FPS take a hit with the 787 + Heathrow it seems...this YT'r defintly needs to turn the settings down a notch. But otherwise it's a good video of a full flight...787 looks decent enough to keep me entertained until a QW787 comes out.

In a very basic sense yes. The colours are wrong, and there’s a few things missing (flight path vector for example). Also seems to be sized incorrectly for the distance from the glass - but should all be very easy fixes (apart from the FPV which is very difficult - wouldn’t expect that to be represented).

I hope they will fix the fps issues with airliners cockpits. They need to optimize the cockpit and glass panel rendering

Military sims have been doing HUDs correctly for decades now. Should be possible to put all of that to the HUD. I wonder why they went with the wrong color.

DCS does such a good job with the HUD. Especially the F-16 and F-18

The colours are the same as the PFD, so they’ve likely just replicated that display in the HUD.

I didn't have the time to watch the whole thing, but I did tune in to his live stream from time to time to check his progress. Even though his pc isn't the greatest, and he could probably tweak his settings a little more to gain some more fps, the remarkable thing about his 8+ hours flight to Dubai is that he didnt crash. Like, the sim didn't crash. So that is a very good sign!

Geez, has this guy ever looked through a HUD? 😱 He's showing the HUD, totally NOT working as it should, and in the very same second says it "does work". Apparently based on the observation that the display appears in front of him. And no, I'm not talking about the colors. The horizon line should be, uhm, on the horizon and STAY there. If it would have this right, bascially the essence of a HUD altogether, I can't see how a FPV is any challenge to implement. The virtual image should be an overlay and superimposed onto the outside landscape, being fixed on it. Which very obviously is exactly not happening here. I guess he sees the virtual image being somewhere in front at some distance, but it's obvious the distance is nowhere near where it should be. I'm left speechless as he comes to his conclusion. 😅 Apart from the fact the image might disappear a lot sooner with these head movements, but I could totally live with that and also wrong colors as long as the most basic stuff was working. 👍 If you don't have access to a HUD or don't know what I'm talking about, there's also footage on YT but usually w/o the head movements. But they still show how the image should project on the outside view.

Edit: He shows it again at around 2:29:20 and once again states it's "fully accurate" as he moves the camera around... unbelivable 🙈🙈

Rant over. 🤣
