Seriously guys just use the Logitech profiler software. I’m using it in my original X52 and it’s working just fine. The sim still sees the controller you just have to manually bind stuff. The only thing you’re missing even if you don’t want to use the Logitech profiler is a pre-made profile in flightsim. You can still create a custom profile. I did this originally on the Xbox version with the standard gamepass version. Bound the axes and POV hat in the sim and the rest in the Logitech software before swapping over to the premium deluxe on Steam and doing the same thing.

That would be a solution that I, maybe, could live with.

Since the X52 FCS is in the compatibility list of the FS2020, the normal user assumes that it will work.

So why should I do the work and make assignments in the software and then assign everything by hand in the simulator?

There is no indication on their website that only newer models work.

My ticket was deleted without any comment.

It just doesn't work that way.

If I had paid 120 euros for the simulator (Premium Deluxe) now, I would be really mad. Luckily I only use the Gamepass version at the moment

Yeah I can understand being upset that it doesn't work.  I was initially as well, but then realized I'd change it all anyway since on FSX I used multiple profiles worth of keybinds in the Saitek/Logitech profiler software so was trying to offer alternatives.  I actually just kind of assumed that most people would be wanting to do it that way anyway since the sim can't take advantage of the 3 modes that the profiler software can do.  I figure the more things bound to X52, the few convoluted keybinds like shift-ctrl-alt-left arrow-insert-A kinds of stuff that I have to remember (not a real one just made up, but there's plenty of ctrl-shift-key or shift-ctrl-alt-key stuff in there).  With the profiler I just have to remember for example mode 2 button D on the throttle unlocks the thrust reversers and locks them again.

Sorry, flyinion, I did not want to be unpolite. I'm just pretty upset about this problem right now.
So please don't be offended if I was a little rude
I am annoyed by the fact that the controller is listed as compatible.
And unfortunately that is not true because of a f*** missing XML file.

No worries, no offense was taken.  However, the controller IS compatible, it's just not behaving with the default keybinds file for the device.  You can still create a custom profile in the Sim settings and bind anything you want to the buttons.  It's just not allowing you to use the default keybinding config for it.  I was just looking in the config file that it's "supposed" to be able to use and noticed this section at the top.  I think I'm going to try and find my user created one and see how the sensitivities compare.  Might help tune the stick for the sim................

<Axes>
      <Axis AxisName="X" AxisSensitivy="-50" AxisDeadZone="2" />
      <Axis AxisName="Y" AxisSensitivy="-50" AxisDeadZone="0" />
      <Axis AxisName="Z" AxisSensitivy="1" AxisDeadZone="2" />
      <Axis AxisName="rX" AxisSensitivy="1" AxisDeadZone="2" />
      <Axis AxisName="rY" AxisSensitivy="1" AxisDeadZone="2" />
      <Axis AxisName="rZ" AxisSensitivy="-50" AxisDeadZone="2" />
      <Axis AxisName="SliderX" AxisSensitivy="1" AxisDeadZone="2" />
      <Axis AxisName="SliderY" AxisSensitivy="1" AxisDeadZone="2" />
</Axes>

edit:  In case anyone is trying to figure it out, looks like they're setting aileron, elevator, and the twist rudder to -50 sensitivity (assuming the code translates direct to the the sensitivity slider in sim).

Hmmm, has anyone actually figured out where this thing stores custom binding configs?  I have the steam version and everything is installed to a custom folder.  Between Steam folder, the custom "packages" folder, program data, and the appdata\local and appdata\roaming stuff I can't find any keybind configs anywhere that would hold the settings I've made.

For those who can use the X52 pro, do the radio stack on the throttle also work with both rollers ?

I think the biggest issue is that folks do not realize you need to be on the "X52 HOTAS" controller and set the filter to "Unassigned" (on the left hand side of the controllers frame) in order to SEE that you can map the old X52.   Then once you bind the buttons you want make sure to hit F11 and SAVE these bindings.

I think I spent more time trying to figure out HOW to get into and modify that stupid .xml (that I could never modify due to M$ locking the folder), then I did just mapping the key bindings.

1. How come Flight Simulator works fine with X52 (old id) on first run if it cannot recognize / map it with the existing .xml file? I have the game pass edition so I am not allowed to alter the .xml due to permissions.

2. Is it possible for someone with the default keybindings to export them somehow so I can import them (could map it myself, but don't know half the buttons I need at this point).

Thanks for your suggestsuggestions ,  everyone... has driven me mad this evening..built a new PC and gotten nowhere,  and slowly...

Unfortunately none of this worked for me (hardware ID 0255 and DVD install/Microsoft store)

Finally have the inputs being recognised so will get all the mappings from a friend tomorrow and screenshot them all here... can't see any other way to do it? Other than take a crowbar to my new PC 😀

On the first part, all that xml contains is the "default keybinds and sensitivities" that MS/Asobo decided should be the defaults.  As soon as you go in and modify anything it creates a new profile and stores your settings there.  Though I have yet to figure out where custom keybinds are stored.  I have the steam version and installed to custom locations instead of defaults so I've looked in all the folders (Steam, the packages folder, program data folder, and appdata folders) and can't seem to find custom keybind configs anywhere.  I'm starting to thing they're stored in the cloud with your profile or something instead.

Anyway, so it still lets you use the stick, but you have to set your own keybindings for it.  The sim not seeing the stick at all would be a different issue.  In my case, old 2004 model, I can't use the built in profile, but it still recognizes there is something there and allowed me to create a custom profile with my own mappings.  I assume it's picking up the control button/axis names from the driver in Windows as all the buttons, sliders, axes do show up.  I went a hybrid route and assigned the main axes, sensitivities, and main HAT switch in the sim.  All the buttons I use the Logitech software so I can have 3 modes worth of keybinds on the controller because if you just use the sim to bind all the buttons, you can't utilize the mode switch.  It just thinks it's the same button again.

Hi again everyone,

Have you raised this with Asobo?

[email protected]

Maybe if everyone does it will be looked at?

What do you mean by in the logitech software? The x 52 horas/ programmer? All my buttons show up on that...already? Thanks...

Yes I was suggesting to use the Logitech/Saitek (depending on if you upgraded it or not) profiler software and set your bindings in there instead of the sim.

I have done that but didn't help,  had to set them up in the sim,  but Ctrl + C doesn't list anything.  I'm returning my 10 x dvd's to amazon and will buy the steam version. Once I get over the pain of this experience
