AI Traffic

Featured Replies

Having just upgraded to FSX from FS2002, assuming I can get the right balance to achieve respectable FPS, is there any freeware tools available for AI traffic? Also are there any AI aircraft with genuine liveries that can be imported to replace the default traffic?I had Justflights Traffic 2004 on FS2002 and was pleased with the results it gave. I'm looking for something that will improve on the default and go some way to looking more like the Justflight products.I have seen a couple of replacement textures for the default aircraft here on avsim that I may use as a stop-gap.RegardsRobEngland

WOW! Quite a leap from 2002 - FSX !Rob if I were you i'd stick with Justflight and get Traffic2005, there is a patch due out very soon for FSX.Hope your rig is up to it?Mick

Freeware real airlines - will intall in FSXwww.world-of-ai.comFreeware real airlines - will need to run the installer in a folder named for FS2004 - copy the traffic and aircraft over to FSXwww.projectai.comFreeware GA - does require two manual copies - the aircraft to the aircraft folder and the traffic file to the Scenery/World/Scenery folderwww.ultimatega.com

Computer specs.Intel Dual Core P4 3.4GHZ1024MB RAM256mb Nvidea 6200Looking to get an extra 1GB RAM in the next few weeks as it seems a must have from seing everyone elses specs. Caught in two minds as whether to upgrade the graphics card. Do I upgrade to improve performance now (relatively cheaply) or wait for DX10 cards (hopefully) take a quantum leap in performance but pay a little more.RegardsRob England

CPU is great! You might struggle with the 6200 !I get 20-30 fps with my rig with most of the tweaks here, the FIBER_FRAME seems the best.I love it !!!

Reggie,I've got my system tweaked and I'm very happy with FSX now...but I've had to settle for 10% airline AI and 50% ga AI. If I d/l and install an airline and GA freeware package you've mentioned, 1- do they replace the default air traffic AI automatically or do they require some manual editing ( not a problem, just wondering how they work ), and 2- will they require less overhead so that I might be able to bump up my air traffic settings a bit and enjoy some increased aircraft AI in FSX?Thanks for any info.

Traffic files compiled with the FS2004 Traffic Tools program are slightly different from traffic files compiled with Microsoft's TrafficDatabaseBuilder - which created the default AI traffic. The information is also processed differently and the FSX .DLL's appear to not real FS2004 TrafficTools flight plans completely / correctly. When the FS2004 files and the FSX files are present - the FSX files - the default AI - is not loaded. As far as the AI slider - remember it does not control the percentage of AI traffic. It sets a cutoff point. Each AI flight plan has a % setting in it.If you set the slider at 10% - any flight plan with a setting of 11% of higher will not be loaded. However if the flight plan, like many which are in the library for this web site, is written so all flights are 1% - then you get 100% of the aircraft / flights for that airline/ schedule. The division between Airline and GA traffic in FS2004 and FS2002 was the line in the aircraft.cfg file fltsim.x section about the individual repaint. If the line atc_airline= has an entry - the sim considers it Airline AI traffic. If that line is missing or empty - then it's GA.One of the default CRJ700 repaints is GA, and three of the Cessna Caravans are Airline.

Thanks for the info guys. So, I need to try the following:1) Disable FSX traffic by renaming the file2) D/L a couple of freeware AI traffic file packages, install, and then set my Air Traffic AI sliders in FSX to say 5%; then run FSX and see what the impact is on my frame rate. I'll try it when I get the time. Thanks again!

FSX Traffic 2005 Update just landed!

I must be blind cause I sure can't find it.

>I must be blind cause I sure can't find it.justflight.com,then FSX,Product listing and here you have the link

Thanks,Like I said, I'm Blind!:+

Guys, how does Traffic2005 affect your performance vs. the default AI in FSX?

Ken

That's one painful leap, 2002 to FSX.
