Artificial horizontal line through terrain

Featured Replies

I’ve been flying around mountainous areas and there’s a noticeable horizontal line that’s where the horizon would be. It’s obnoxious. I recall seeing someone else complain about this last week.

Has anyone got any further insights?

it will only be visible if there’s higher terrain as the SIM is rendering it at where the horizon would be at infinity. It goes away when the terrain is flat or water out to the horizon.

I’ll try to post a photo tomorrow.

Good to see it's a known issue.  Will report as well.

BTW, here's what I'm seeing... Note the horizontal line through the middle of the screen

I experienced this earlier. Also noticed that the sun was low, and if I looked towards the sun then the line was prominent. If I looked in the opposite direction, it all but disappeared.

This happens with X-Plane and Prepar3D too. It's just not as obvious. It happens because of some effects are rendered screen-space.

PC specs: i5-12400F, RTX 3070 Ti and 32 GB of RAM.

Simulators I'm using: X-Plane 12, Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) and FlightGear.

So does that mean there is no chance of a cure? Not that it’s the end of the world or anything. Just a bit distracting.

I am not knowledgeable on graphics and how they are rendered, but could the move to DX12 fix it?

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.
