September 6, 20205 yr Hi, I'm trying the Trial version right now on MSFS 2020 and while I like most of it, I never get the descent instructions when I'm at the calculated TOD (shown with green arrow on map). I know the TOD gets recalculated during the flight, however e.g. last flight I only got the descent instruction when I was right on the STAR and requested an arrival (I thought the STAR entered into the filed flight plan would get assigned automatically...? Or do I have to ask for it by PTT at some time? Was that the reason I got no descent instruction? Still, it should follow the flight plan altitudes / TOD, shouldn't it, even without an assigned arrival?) Anyway, instead of the entered descent rate of 2000 FPM (which was used for the green arrow calculation) I had to descent at 6000 FPM to capture the glideslope. This happens to me every time, so I guess I am doing something wrong....? I thought I basically wouldnt have to request anything as long as the planned SID, STAR and APPROACH don't change in game (which they didnt, I got the STAR that I planned from ATC, but only "assigned" when I requested an arrival), but seems like I'm wrong. On default ATC in MSFS you get descent instructions according to your flight plan, even if there's no approach/STAR chosen yet. This is a lot more comfortable, since it means I can choose my approach while safely descending. For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.
September 6, 20205 yr Commercial Member Thanks for trying the software. You should either get descent instructions somewhere near the TOD or cleared to descend via the STAR, which will then leave it up to you when to descend, in accordance with the STAR. Something may be going wrong. If you email the log file for one of these flights, I can see what might be happening. P2A Log files are located in: C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\P2A_200\Logs where <UserName> is your PC user name. Portions of the path may be hidden by default, so be sure Windows Explorer has Show Hidden Items checked in the View tab. Please email to [email protected]. DO NOT copy and paste to here because it makes the forum thread very difficult to navigate. Thanks, Dave

Thank you very much, sent you an E-Mail (from: [email protected]). EDIT: I noticed that on todays flight the TOD-waypoint was gone from the flight plan when I was looking later during the flight, though it was there when I filed it (the green arrow was still there). Maybe a hint... Edited September 6, 20205 yr by Fiorentoni For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.
September 9, 20205 yr Commercial Member Make sure you are using version 2.6.1.3. It fixed some issues like this. If it still does it, then please send the log file for a flight where it happened. Thanks, Dave
