September 7, 20205 yr Hi there In the constant search for better performance, I came across a video of someone improving performance by popping out the main MFD in the TBM. I have no real need to pop out the displays but because I'm a sucker for performance tricks, I thought I would try it. As soon as I moved the mouse over the display, hit "alt" and moved the display... my FPS tanked instantly "tanked" from around 55fps to 8fps and started stuttering almost to a stop. My fps osd (evga) also started showing crazy numbers like 33456 fps then 8 then 27045 then 33480 then 9 and so on. As soon as I closed the popout screen, everything went back to normal immediately. 55fps and steady........?? Quick update- tried scenario with built-in fps osd using the developer mode and I discovered that as soon as I pop out the display, the game limits itself to 10fps and the big yellow moving graph at the top shrinks to a single small purple line. *Maybe related to gsync or fullscreen or something like that..? I am running fullscreen, gsync on a 1440p screen. Settings are on high (ish). System is a 4790k, 16gb memory, 1080ti and on an ssd. **No performance tricks other than process lasso to disable windows dynamic thread boosting. The only "trick" that actually works for me. Normally my experience is excellent - all the way up to jets. 50 or so fps and fluid. Any ideas?? September 7, 20205 yr Popped out the G1000 in the 172 in full screen mode and moved it to another monitor, with absolutely no change in performance that I could tell. Mid-range system. I also don't see any way that having two MFD's running could improve performance, I kind of expected it to hurt mine. Edited September 7, 20205 yr by desbean
September 7, 20205 yr It even happens when you pop-out the ATC window (to a real window which you can move). September 7, 20205 yr I've definitely noticed an FPS drop when popping out displays, perhaps 5 FPS from my baseline of 30? I have the mod by highonsnow that reduces the refresh rate in glass cockpits though. ckyliu, proud supporter of ViaIntercity.com. i5 12400F, 32GB, RTX4070, more in "About me" on my profile.
September 7, 20205 yr Yes but that's for the glass windows / cockpits. It happens with normal windows to. Just open ATC with blue border = FS2020 window and make from that a windows window and hop... FPS drop. Win11 Pro 64-bit, Ryzen 5800X3D, Corsair H115i, Gigabyte X570S UD, EVGA 3080Ti XC3 Ultra 12GB, 64 GB DDR4 G.Skill 3600.
