Does the Savage Cub have a parking brake?

Featured Replies

lf it does, I'm damned if I can find it.  I can APPLY the brakes of course, but I can't seem to find much less set the parking brakes.

It does have one, but as for it's location I'm unsure. I just made a joystick and or keyboard assignment for parking brake toggle.

Is it done yet? When will it be released? Will it be freeware or payware? How much will it cost? Any updates on the progress? Will it work for Xbox? Can I be a beta tester? How's the performance in VR?

I have a button toggle preset on my Thrustmaster joystick too for parking brake and it works fine for most aircraft, but for the Savage Cub it does nothing.  And I don't see anything within the cockpit/controls that looks like a parking brake.  I wonder if I am just supposed to keep the toe brakes on while I go through the checklist.

I think they forgot to model the couple of bricks lying under the front seat.

I went in the aircraft to have a look around. When I toggle my joystick button for parking brake, all I see move is the top toe brakes lock forward on the rudder pedals. I don't see any cockpit control that has a switch or lever to actuate the brakes that I can find.

Thanks for checking.  My brake button (button 3) on my stick works too, and I can see it engage the toe brakes.  There's a separate button to engage/disengage the parking brake (button 8).  That button does nothing in the Savage Cub which makes me think that aircraft simply does not have a parking brake.

Could be quite tricky to put those when stopping in a slope and alone...  🙂

It does in fact have one. I have "Toggle Parking Brakes" mapped to a joystick button and it does work in the Cub. Maybe check any duplicate key bindings that may be interfering? Not entirely sure what else to look for.

You can bind the parking brake I think the OP was asking if its actually modeled in the cockpit and where to find it, btw I couldn't find it either!

A quick browse of the Savage Cub manual suggests it doesn't have one. Plenty mention of 'brakes' but not one of 'parking brake'.

That was my conclusion as well.  Thanks very much for the information.

I think you can add a parking brake as an after-market item.  I seem to remember seeing one listed on a pre-owned Zlin Savage Cub that was for sale online.

Much appreciated, 109Sqn.

No problem. While I was searching, I came across a Supercub owners forum where they discussed fitting a parking brake, so I would agree it's probably available as an after-marker addition.

That's strange because I think the Savage Cub is based on the Super Cub and that one has a parking brake.

The manual you link to mentions a brake lever on page 19 too.
