September 9, 20205 yr Well, it looks like the community is now working on a mod for the 787: I wonder if they will get as far as the community A320 mod. I guess we will see. The 787 is supposed to be encrypted and wasn't supposed to be modifiable so who knows if this project team will hit a road block in the future because of the encryption. They should be all open for us to mod since they are so increddbly bad as default released. It would only benefit them to have them open. PMDG and others might have thiers encrypted and coded with closed code ofc.
September 9, 20205 yr From what I've seen, only some files are encrypted. Unfortunately, these include some critical .cfg files. It looks like the fixes these guys have done do far do not touch the encrypted ones. However for this jet to make the grade, engine and flight model changes are needed as well. These may be problematic. My guess why the 787 is encrypted is so people can't copy and paste the files, so that buyers of the Standard edition can play the 787. Microsoft probably wants only the Premium Deluxe buyers to be able to play the 787 because they paid for it. I bought the Premium Deluxe version and IMO, I hope the community makes a better and more realistic mod out of the 787. So I could care less if other people who only bought the Standard edition of MSFS can play the 787, provided the community makes a better version of the 787 because Asobo dropped the ball in the default version of the 787. Yes ofc. I payed for the delux super ed too. Some files for it to work ofc should be encrypted. But what I ment was like I hope config stuff and other important files for the team beeing able to make a mod would not be encrypted. I have no Idea how the moding works thou. What files are needed and how to edit and add stuff.
