And I'm not sure you can restore holders to the protected file space ftom the bin. So test it with something unimportant first! October 1, 20205 yr If you bought MSFS through Windows Store, you may not be able to access those files due to DRM: https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/585746-access-msfs-2020-folder/?do=findComment&comment=4359946 Edited October 1, 20205 yr by MattNischan
October 1, 20205 yr Author Just as a heads up, I solved the problem using mklink. I created another community folder outside of the MSFS folder and created a junction with mklink to point the old folder to the new folder. Now I can move files and folders from inside the community folder to any place I want if I want to make backups. BTW ... if you ever want to remove the link make sure you use rmdir as "del" will delete the entire target folder not just the link.

March 5, 20215 yr I have looked through the responses here from October and September 2020 and did not see a good solution. So, from another forum on MSFS 2020, I suggest you download the MSFS Add-on Linker that allows you to disable mods in your community folder at will and then re-enable as you desire. Very easy and powerful tool that eliminates the complexity of add-ons management. Go here: MSFS Addons Linker • Microsoft Flight Simulator. Hopes this helps anyone else that looks for an answer here.
