October 8, 20205 yr I have been using a second hand Gigabyte gaming OC1080ti for a few weeks running P3Dv5. It was working well until lately. Now occasionally , the sim crashes, ceasing up with coloured squares on the screen requiring a PC reboot. Other times it will work perfectly for hours. The card is fitted firmly and the stats all look good. I am using the DP with my monitor. Is it the obvious, the card is not long for this world. Thankyou for any input.
October 8, 20205 yr If you decide it’s going in the bin after further testing you have nothing to lose by trying what fixed my faulty second hand card (green matrix style dots over screen). Remove, strip down and remove all covers /plastic /fans, sit card flat in oven for 20 mins at 200C, let cool naturally, rebuild with some new thermal paste. Success for me as it must have reset a dry solder joint or something along those lines. No joke- my card is still running 3 years later although it’s in my old pc now.
October 8, 20205 yr Had same problem. Turnd out it was power supply. Gota new one it fixed it. Regards Ted Kiser
October 8, 20205 yr Make sure your power connectors are firmly attached. I bought a card last year and it kept crashing when using PMDG 737NGu. Nothing else would crash it. Then I downloaded some benchmark testing software which tested graphic cards, and it crashed there too. I opened the case thinking of RMA'ing the card when I noticed in my haste, that I had not seated the 8 and 6 pin power connectors exactly right and no problem since. October 9, 20205 yr Author Thankyou for your replies. The card consumes 600w and my PSU is 650w. I don't know whether that is adequate. What I have done is lower the card OC setting from game mode to quiet mode and so far so good. It does not affect P3Dv5.
October 12, 20205 yr Your card doesn’t use 600 watts.
