October 13, 20205 yr Apologies, I know this has been covered and I have actually seen this before in the past. Usually it is shutting down my system before the P3D process ends so when I restart P3D starts automatically. This one however is different. I shut down P3D, let the system sit, once my MS security or "focus" box with everything it hid while I was gamin pops up I usually know P3D is shut down. Then I go into task manager to verify no processes still running tied to P3D. Only then do I shut the system down and sure enough when I reboot P3D loads automatically. I have to go through the entire "shut down" process again, then reboot and only then will the system usually start normally... Not sure where else I should be looking or any child processes I am missing but any help would certainly be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
October 13, 20205 yr Hi Paul, this is the Windows 10 inbuilt functionality that your apps running last are autmatic start after reboot. You can turn it off in Windows 10 settings -> accounts -> logon settings -> there you find a switch which is usually ON for Apps automatic start after logon. You need to turn it off. Hope you can find it because i dot know how these steps are named in english WIN10 because i have the German version. Here is a link where it is explained better https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/138685-turn-off-automatically-restart-apps-after-sign-windows-10-a.html Edited October 13, 20205 yr by BerndB Bernd P3D V6 - PC spec: Intel i9-9900 overclocked 5 GHz HT off, 32 GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX3090 24GB, 2xM2 SSD, Skalarki HomeCockpit and Jeehell FMGS on a dedicated Server, PF3 for ATC, MCE, GSX, EFB, AS+ASCA+ENV and OrbX

October 13, 20205 yr Moderator P3Dv3 is particularly slow to shut down. If you have GSX its Control Panel Program will show when P3D has closed. Ray (Cheshire, England). Thanks Ray, I will take a look. I usually use LINDA as a first indicator P3D has shut down as well and made a habit of letting the system sit for a bit. I'm mid flight right now but found the setting mentioned by @BerndB ion one of my other systems so going to see if that is ticked when I finish up the trip to LLBG. -Thank you Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk

Bernd, on my laptop (not for flying) I have Sign-in Options under which is a Restart Apps setting. Is that the one you’re referring to? It’s off but I’ll check my P3D PC tomorrow. Paul, I find Task Manager in W10 useless for showing if P3D is still running. W7 was far better. Ray (Cheshire, England). October 14, 20205 yr Commercial Member Back a while I had lots of addons installed and a problem came up whereby the sim was closed and appeared to be closed. However when i went to run it again it popped up a message to say the sim was already running. This remnant of P3D could be seen in Task Manager, background processes section (Win10) quite easily, it was not showing in Apps section. I already had Restart Apps setting to off so I didn't notice the problem. So with Restart Apps then set to on, P3D restarted when rebooting the PC, with Restart Apps setting to off the problem was not apparent. So in effect with Restart Apps setting to off this was not a cure for the problem as it was simply hiding the incorrect behavior of the simulator setup. After a clean install of the sim the problem went away with the sim always closing properly and no need for the Restart Apps setting to be adjusted. Maybe time for some experimenting. I will also check the background processes still running. Really appreciate all of the help and suggestions, thank you everyone. Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk

As it happens I never worked out what the problem was causing the sim to stay running, thanks for that. Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
