October 20, 20205 yr Author I do experience occasional freezes, not due to the cold temperatures up here lol (oye, it just snowed the other day, I’m not ready for the cold) which I think are due to too much going on at one time and my computer not being able to handle the load. I’m guessing a processor problem? It is extremely frustrating when it happens particularly as I Spend a lot of time planning my flights amd going through the proper procedures and checklists and all (it can take upwards to an hour before I am lifting off from the departure runway). This aspect is stressful and there is a big relief when end a flight at the gate with fspassengers ( I record my flights and get satisfaction following them with my maps). i have seen what you are talking about. I am directed to a site by a search for a scenery and get the message that it no longer exists. Found that a lot the last couple days when looking for airport scenery.
October 20, 20205 yr Chris41, I am actually not guessing re the processor problem. Unfortunately for you, if not immediately, you will be facing a MAJOR update. Added to this is the fact that eventually you will want to wander into new sim platform areas and all above FS2004 are going to require very much better hardware and that is not cheap. If you make the decision that you are and will forever will be, happy with FS2004, then a 1 or 2 gen upgrade will be more than sufficient. However, if that is an unlikely scenerio, then you may want to hold off and buy the best you can afford. Google recommended specs for each platform and if possible, go one step further up for future proofing. No-one ever said flight simming was cheap LOL I can understand your frustration, given that my favourite part of flying is the preflight preparation, particularly with the tube liners. Back to FS2004, and whilst new software is getting more and more rare, there are still some dedicated developers. You have to be a little pragmatic however, in that not a lot is going to happen for that sim in the long term. I actually do not envy you and your upgrade prospects in the future as which ever way you go, you will have to upgrade virtually everything. Over the years, I have been fortunate in that I have been able to simply get new and faster RAM until I could afford a new GPU. Once that was accomplished, it was easier and more affordable to upgrade MB and CPU, so the whole process was more incremental for me. Good luck again mate .. you have my best wishes Tony Tony Chilcott. My System. Motherboard. ASRock Taichi X570 CPU Ryzen 9 3900x (not yet overclocked). RAM 32gb Corsair Vengeance (2x16) 3200mhz. 1 x Gigabyte Aorus GTX1080ti Extreme and a 1200watt PSU. 1 x 1tb SSD 3 x 240BG SSD and 4 x 2TB HDD OS Win 10 Pro 64bit. Simulators ... FS2004/P3Dv4.5/Xplane.DCS/Aeroflyfs2...MSFS to come for sure.

Found that a lot the last couple days when looking for airport scenery. If I may, if you cannot find a scenery that you are looking for, place a post on one of the more FS2004 centric sites, such as www.flightsim.com or www.sim-outhouse.com. I'm sure that you could possibly find help there. Payware,could/might be a problem. Robin "Onward & Upward" ... To the Stars, & Beyond...
October 21, 20205 yr Author I think my computers beyond updates at this point as its been over 5-6 years since i last had my computer on (up until a month ago when i started it back up). I can't even get the internet back up and i remember shortly before shutting it down (i needed to concentrate on my schooling) i did one security update and the sim stopped working. I had to delete the update to get it to work. Anyhow, this is where i am at unfortunately. But, i'll save up for two years, hoping my computer lasts that long, and spend the money on something really good, probably have a friend build me one. Who knows, after 2 years all the other platforms out there will have some or most of the bugs resolved, particularly with fs2020. I havn't heard of sim-outhouse.com, I'll have to check it out. Thanks again all Chris
October 22, 20205 yr Have a look at sim-outhouse & the others. Both will offer more FS2004 add-ons, especially new ones, than here. FS2004, as you will see, is being very much supported, even after 17 years. Have fun. Robin "Onward & Upward" ... To the Stars, & Beyond...
