Always sad when a sim site 'stops', especially as they were amongst the oldest forums/libraries, along with SOH, Simviation & Avsim. Lets hope that they return, or even hope that those that used their library as a repository for their add-ons, still have their add-ons & possibly repost them on other libraries, so that their add-ons are still being able to be shared.
  2. I have not really followed the forums, but a quick look now, about 50% English, the rest in Russian. Having said that, a lot of the downloads have the docs & readme's in Russian, and it's impossible to translate. But the PDF's are no problem at all. I convert them to Word, then copy into an on-line translator, Windows 11 has a 'Snipping Tool' that can extract text from a picture or PDF. After the translation, I paste back into the Word doc, then save it as a PDF. It's almost quicker to do than explaining the process.
  3. You can get 'Translate' extensions for most browsers, that will translate on the fly.
  4. I've just downloaded quite a few aircraft. I'm using Edge, & the site comes up in English. Files - Avsim.su
  5. Mine is in English. I'm using the following link.. Files - Avsim.su

And we can all breath a bit better now!! Good work!
  7. Mine is also set to XP SP2 mode. Not sure & cannot remember why, but I've always set it to that.

No luck. - 'Page could not be loaded'.
  9. It has just been a habit of mine to set Compatibility & Admin, & At the moment, I'm running 3 different themed versions of FS9. I also use windows mode. Just looking at your mobile rig... I'm also using an ASUS A15 Ryzen 7 4800H16GB RAM & a 500GB SSD. AMD onboard, & NVIDIA RTX 3050 GPU I have a 2TB & a 500GB portable drive permanently plugged in, & am running my sims, including P3Dv4.5 from them. I did a test by running FS9 from the SSD & then from the portable drive, & found not much difference. No lagging at all. As long as it works.....🤩

Just asking if anyone can get into Sim-Outhouse? I'm getting a "Page could not be loaded' error.
  11. To get FS2004 working in Windows 10 & 11... 1. Do NOT install into it's default C:\Program Files folder, install into, for example. C:\Flightsim 2004 2. After the install ..Download & run the FS9.1 update patch Flight Simulator 2004 Update v9.1 3. Download & replace the existing fs9.exe with the FS9.1 No-Cd patch Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 v9.1 No-CD Patch for FS2004 4. Right-click the (replaced) FS9.exe & click the 'Compatibility' tab Select 'XP mode' or whatever XP mode there is. Then .. Click the 'run as Administrator' box Run the sim... All should be perfect! You will probably find that the sim will run a bit smoother as well. Enjoy!
  12. Sometimes, Files or folders get 'Read Only' if the sim is installed in it's default folder. If installed anywhere else, things should be OK. 'Shrug'!! Windows 10 & 11 can cause a hair pulling out session. A Scotch normally helps.🍻
  13. Nice chatting again.. I'm working on yet another FS9 install, beginning of flight, up to the 1930's. With suitable mods & scenery. Best of luck sorting out the issue, & thanks, in anticipation, for your sharing the solution. Regards Robin
  14. Before you install another copy, find & delete 'fs9.cfg' Normally here: C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FS9 If you cannot find it, download 'Everything' from www.voidtools,com - it's a very quick desktop search engine that finds as you type. The sim will rebuild a new on when it starts up again. You will probably need to redo you key & button assignments afterwards. The has got me up & running again, after an oopsie!. You just never know, it's worth a try.
  15. Blue: To get FS2004 to run with modern GPU's & Operating Systems! 1. Install the sim - NOT in it's default 'Program Files' folder but in another. 2. Download & install & run the fs9.1 update 3. Download & install & run the fs9.exe patch (Replace the existing fs9.exe with the new one) 4. Right-click the (new) fs9.exe & select 'Properties' 5. Click on the 'Compatibility' tab & select 'Windows XP) 6. Then click 'Run as Administrator' Run FS2004 That's it!! P.S. You can have multiple FS2004 installs, but that is for another time. FS2004 WILL & Does run with modern graphics cards once the above update & patch is installed. Link for Update: Flight Simulator 2004 Update v9.1 Link for Patch: Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 v9.1 No-CD Patch for FS2004
  16. A major problem, with sticking with older/obsolete operating systems, is that more & more developers are no longer supporting their products for older OS's. Also, cramming old OS's onto (into?) modern hardware is also an issue, due to lack of drivers etc. My feelings, right or wrong, is that OS's must match the hardware. I'm running a Ryzen 7 laptop, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, & a 2TB portable USB drive, where my FS2004 & P3D is installed. All runs smoothy & perfectly, which actually surprises me, considering they run off a portable drive.
  17. Ya, I updated(?) from Windows 7 to Windows 8 then to 8.1. I had no issues with running FS2004 & CFS2 at the time. If I remember, I used a Start Menu replacement.
  18. Pleasure! Mike's aircraft were originally hosted on Garry Smith's site Welcome to the Ford Project When his original site 'closed down', I thought that Mike's downloads must be preserved. If you have not seen it yet, have a look at the above Ford Tri-Motor site, there is a huge amount of scenery & paints there, including sloping runways! AND .... Welcome to Avsim & give a shout if you need any help.
  19. It is on Simviation: Mike Stone 107 Aircraft Collection Archive (Category: FS2004 > Misc) Zip file preview 89.74Mb (1735 downloads) This is a collection of about 107 of Mike Stone's aircraft that I've collected & posted for posterity. Mike's planes were basic but very flyable & a lot of fun. 107 aircraft included - covering about all types from jetliners, military and props.
  20. Not sure as to why Win7 is supposedly the 'Holy Grail' of OS's. I've been running FS9 ever since Win11 was released, with never an issue at all. I've been running 5-6 separate unique themed installs of FS9, spread across my C:\ drive (SSD) as well as my D:\ drive (2TB portable), with plenty of both freeware & payware scenery & aircraft). I've had FS9 running on Win7, 8, 8.1, 10 & now 11, & have found that things happen quicker & smoother of Win11. Having said that, my laptop is a Ryzen 7, so Win11 is perfectly 'matched' to the hardware.
  21. I agree with STK, that more investigation should have been done. It does say 'This is an Early Access release, offering a fully flyable Tayrona with some systems still in development. You can experience the aircraft today and help shape its future as we refine, enhance, and expand it on the way to version 1.0.' A definite red flag, if you were expecting a fully tested version, & not a beta version. I do have a thing of actually paying for a beta version, or any version that has not been fully tested &, as stated, basically incomplete - maybe the sound file is just a gap filler, until the aircraft has been enhanced to version 1.0 Also, I really think that more homework should have been done & maybe a screen shot or two, to check out the aircraft. Buyers remorse for buying an Early Access/beta aircraft? I also support new developers, but will not part with money for an early access/beta release & also an aircraft with no reviews nor developer footprint!
  22. I've not had any issues with running out of VAS. So, for me, never an issue with running a 32 bit program within a 64 bit operating system. As John rightly says, everything has been said before. And yes, I do check in daily, to this, and quite a few other sites that support our beloved sim. After 22 years, we have not been forgotten!
  23. Maybe not here on Avsim, but quite well supported on other forums, including a new FS2004 Retro forum, complete with quite a few Retro sceneries, flights & documents. Also, aircraft are still being released on other sites as well, so - support from developers as well as us FS9'ers!!
  24. I double down on that!!🤷‍♂️
  25. Copied from another site! (apologies to Bernard) 'I really don't know what the point of the initial question is. You either sign up and make a judgment, or you don't bother. Nothing is simpler than that. In addition, it is a forum that is mostly run in German, which makes it rather difficult to get any opinions here. ' I used Edge translate to translate from German. I signed up, as any Fs2004 forum is worth looking at!
