QW-787 Gauge Startup Error

Featured Replies

Hello I am a new member here so I don't really if  this topic was discussed.

I bought the qw-787 recently and then updated it because it showed that beta-9 had expired. But after i updated it and then started it it says that QW-787 gauge startup error.

I cannot refer the QW-787 forum and reselecting the airplane once again doesn't work as well.

Any help would be appreciated.

I don't understand what "I cannot refer the QW-787 forum" means.

All of the QW787 updates I have installed required a complete uninstallation and then a reinstallation of the new version.  If you installed over the previous version without a complete uninstall of the old version first, that may be your problem.

Beyond this, you'll most likely need to contact QualityWings on their support forum for more insight.

Ok thanks a lot I figured out the problem.

ok so i installed the new version of the 787.When i load the aircraft the displays now are completely black and a tip appears that there is not enough electrical power in the airplane and I should connect the APU. but the engines are running so i dont think there is any need for external power. does anyone of you know the solution to get the displays working.

The engines might be running but are their generators connected to the electrical bus and providing power?  Is there some kind of avionic master switch?

No there isn't.

That's a strange one.. on the overhead electrical panel, are there any faults showing? A quick skim of the QW pdf manual I found that the battery drains quite quickly so external power or APU start should be carried out as soon as possible, although if the engines are running then the battery should be getting recharged and full electrical power should be available. Do the screens have brightness controls?

Completely different aircraft I know, but on the MD-11 I can turn the MFD brightness right downso you can't see any displays...

Get your APUs running for the displays to turn on!

OK, even if the engines are running, as Charlie says, fire up the APU and see what happens. If the displays come alive, then that's great. Now turn off the APU and see if they stay on. After all, if you were doing a cold & dark start up then you would need the APU to be running before the engines, even with external power.... maybe: I don't know if QW has modelled their 787 to use a "huffer" cart https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xyVASANwxUo

Reading through the start procedure, turn on battery, wait about 30 seconds to see the lower display turn on, then fire up the APUs and after they spool up past 90%, you should have electrical and all displays light up.  Start engines and then turn off APUs.

thanks a lot for your help the displays came on after the apu started.

Now.. did they stay on after you shut down the APU (with engines running)?
