November 1, 20205 yr Hi all Ive been watching the forums and thanking my lucky stars that I have not had a lot of the problems people have been having with this sim. This morning I fired up MSFS and all was fine when at 38000 ft with the a320nx mod latest safe version suddenly poof the sim disappeared. I rebooted my computer and attempted to restart MSFS but when I click on the icon now nothing happens. I dont know what to do now . Anyone have any ideas. Now Im frustrated. November 1, 20205 yr I don't know what you mean by "icon" try loading into xbox games for windows. I know I have a batch file on my desktop that cuts out the splash screens on boot but it goes around the xbox launcher and the last 2 updates have needed to be applied in there before you launch the sim. November 1, 20205 yr One thing that has worked for some people who have the MS install is log out of everything xbox/microsoft. That includes the Microsoft store and also the Xbox game bar for windows and Xbox assistant that the game may have installed - most people do not even realise they have these extra Xbox apps (which do screenshots and stuff) as part of their Windows 10 . Then log back into the windows store and start the game from there and see if it repairs it..

My understanding is MS does not allow purging of previous logins that may have accumulated since much earlier versions of Windows. Even logging in for support for say Office is a challenge. We have four computers here at home with three different Office versions. I believe I have logins that were specific to Windows ME, WIndows 2000, Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows 7, and now Windows 10. Each time I needed support I had trouble finding a previous login that would work for my issue, so always had to create another one. Now in addition I have separate logins for Xbox/MS Store and for the MSFS site. I often have to logout at the Xbox site, try logging in at MSFS and fail, go back to the Xbox site and log back in, then back to the MSFS site and log in. Then somehow it is successful. November 1, 20205 yr Author Sadly Ive tried all of the above suggestions including uninstalling and reinstalling msfs. Also unplugged all addons except mouse and keyboard and still it quits at the asobo startup screen. This is driving me nuts. If it is sticking around between uninstalls you probably have a corrupted profile for the sim somewhere (some file that keeps your settings the same even if you uninstall/reinstall) I'd uninstall and then search for leftovers using search, my guess would be %appdata% somewhere BUT if you go deleting stuff make sure you make backups! November 1, 20205 yr Author well after a couple of reinstalls and disconnecting everything except mouse and keyboard and emptying the community folder I was able to get msfs fired up. I added all my controllers one at a time and it loaded up fine. I then added my original community folder loaded with liveries megapack v 10 and again all fine. Im currently flying again as before and so far no issues. I have no idea why the ctd except that this is one buggy program. it may take 10 yrs to find and remove all the bugs System Intel core I9-10900.Asus prime Z490P motherboard, Corsair 32gb ddr4 dram, Samsung 970 EVO 1TB SSD and 1 TB Seagate Barracuda HD. November 1, 20205 yr Oh it will probably crash again. You have stuff in the Community folder that is causing this. That is my best guess. Take “mega pack’ liveries for example. If one of those is corrupted (and with the latest update many had issues with liveries), as you fly along and the sim loads an AI with that livery... CRASH. How many liveries do you really need? Same reason some people get CTD when loading into a busy airport. What do you find at busy airports? AI planes using mega pack mod liveries..... CRASH. November 1, 20205 yr Author you maybe right if it happens again that will be my solution to remove them System Intel core I9-10900.Asus prime Z490P motherboard, Corsair 32gb ddr4 dram, Samsung 970 EVO 1TB SSD and 1 TB Seagate Barracuda HD. November 1, 20205 yr The game does some weird stuff with liveries. For example if you load a stack of liveries for one particular plane you will suddenly find the AI using mainly that plane for AI traffic.
