November 10, 20205 yr Moderator The Vertx DA62 has a navigation database containing SIDs and STARs but I can’t find it. Looked in all the usual places but to no avail. There has to be one because SIDs and STARs don’t ship with the default program. Or do they? Ray (Cheshire, England). November 10, 20205 yr There are SIDs and STARs baked into the P3D scenery database. If you open up an airfield with ADE and look at the raw data view, you'll see the approach data. Only way to update that is using FSAeroData to replace the default base scenery with recompiled versions that bring in Navigraph data, AFAIK, which can bring side effects to other programs with it. That's the primary reason I stayed away from the Vertx DA62--I'm uncomfortable with having to make a change that affects the entire system just for one add-on. November 10, 20205 yr Author Moderator Thanks Bob. I'll load EGCC and check what ADE reports. I've used it many times but don't recall seeing that data. But look at this site. I update the P3D files with this package each AIRAC cycle. Isn't this doing the same as FSAeroData?https://aero.sors.fr/navaids3.html When you say "the P3D database" is that a specific file generated by reading all the data in the BGLs? If so then if I update the default BGLs using the above site then surely my data would be up to date? Do you know of a recent SID or STAR I can check to see if it's been updated? The Herve Sors update you linked to only updates the navaids. It does not, AFAIK, change any of the fixes, legs, leg types etc, which are also coded into the base scenery bgls. Most advanced add-ons use their own internal database for the approach/SID/STAR routes rather than what's coded into the base scenery. A much better way of doing business, IMHO. By "P3D database" I mean the collection of all the default bgl files in P3D root\scenery You can look at the BENKY6 arrival into KORD--it changed from the BENKY5 this cycle, and waypoint/VOR BDF was replaced in the STAR track with waypoint BFORD Bob Scott | President and CEO, AVSIM Inc ATP Gulfstream II-III-IV-V Sys1 (MSFS20+24/XPlane12+11): AMD 9800X3D, water 2x240mm, MSI MPG X670E Carbon, 64GB GSkill 6000/30, nVidia RTX4090FE Alienware AW3821DW 38" 21:9 GSync, 2x4TB Crucial T705 PCIe5 + 2x2TB Samsung 990 SSD, EVGA 1000P2 PSU, 12.9" iPad Pro Thrustmaster TCA Boeing Yoke, TCA Airbus Sidestick, Twin TCA Airbus Throttle quads, PFC Cirrus Pedals, Coolermaster HAF932 case Sys2 (P3Dv5/v4): i9-13900KS, water 2x360mm, ASUS Z790 Hero, 32GB GSkill 7800MHz CAS36, ASUS RTX4090 Samsung 55" JS8500 4K TV@60Hz, 3x 2TB WD SN850X 1x 4TB Crucial P3 M.2 NVME SSD, EVGA 1600T2 PSU Fiber link to Yamaha RX-V467 Home Theater Receiver, Polk/Klipsch 6" bookshelf speakers, Polk 12" subwoofer, 12.9" iPad Pro PFC yoke/throttle quad/pedals with custom Hall sensor retrofit, Thermaltake View 71 case, Stream Deck XL button box Sys3 (DCS/P3Dv4/ATS/ETS): AMD 7800X3D, MSI MPG X870E Carbon, Noctua NH-D15S, 64GB GSkill 6000/30, EVGA RTX3090 Alienware AW3420DW 34" 21:9 GSync, Corsair HX1000i PSU, 4TB Crucial T705 PCIe5 + 2TB Samsung 970Evo Plus, TM TCA Officer Pack, Saitek combat pedals, TM Warthog, TM RS300 FF wheel/pedals, Coolermaster HAF XB case

November 10, 20205 yr Author Moderator Of course the problem with keeping default approaches up to date is if you have a third party airport and that BGL takes priority anyway. An updated AFD would be required and is that really going to be near the top of the developer's priority list? Doubt it. Bit of a nightmare really. You would have to use default airports only to keep all the data up to date and who's going to do that? Ray (Cheshire, England). Did you select Approach in the top right? It defaults to Airport. That changes the options in the menu from where you can select Approach info. November 10, 20205 yr Author Moderator Thinking more about this data in the AFD I don’t think it includes the STAR or SID info. Just the info for the type of approach for each runway. ILS, VOR etc. It probably extends no further than the FAF for each runway. Looking at my own airport, Manchester, the runway designators haven’t changed for around 10 years when magnetic variation caused 06L/24R to change to 05L/23R. STAR names haven’t changed in years. Even if Vertx is using core data several years old the vast majority of it will still be valid. I don’t think it’s a seriously enough problem to require a subscription to bring it up to date. Does anyone know if SIDs and STARs are held in the default files? Something tells me they’re not since no default aircraft have a FMS capable of reading them. Only Navigraph generate them for 3rd party addons like PMDG737 etc. Ray (Cheshire, England). November 10, 20205 yr If I remember correctly ,people were lamenting the fact that there was no way to access Navigraph in da62. I bought one cycle from fsaerodata so I had navaids ,artcc and approaches updated and used that until I went to v5. Ive never seen a sid / star in Da62, only approaches. November 10, 20205 yr Author Moderator @rickgo, thanks for that. I’ll check the approaches for Manchester tomorrow. I don’t know how difficult or expensive it is to get Navigraph to make specific data available. I use a freeware program for Concorde (CPS-X) and the author was able to get Navigraph to include his data. I can’t imagine he would have paid much for it and it’s still available now even though his program is now freeware and unsupported. If Sean does return to his DA62 perhaps he could approach Navigraph about getting them to add his aircraft to their service. Ray (Cheshire, England). November 10, 20205 yr @Ray Proudfoot when we begged Sean to support Navigraph FMS data he said it was unlikely since he basically would need to start from scratch with the G1000 code. Not happening...(but one can only hope) EASA PPL SEPL + NQ / CB-IR in progress MSFS24 | X-Plane 12
