ASP3D and EA

Featured Replies

As I didn't get any response on my question in HiFi's forums, I hope that I will get an answer to my question here 🙂

The ASP3D manual states, that ASCA cloud textures, cloud models and sky textures are not compatible with P3D 5.1HF1's EA mode. In another thread I was told that ASP3D automatically disables ASCA's loading when P3D is using EA mode. However, everytime I start up P3D with EA mode enabled ASP3D spawns ASCA automatically as well. How can I prevent ASCA from being loaded on these kind of P3D startups? (Other than renaming the ASCA folder  )

Thanks,
Hans

Kind regards,
Hans van WIjhe

I understood that it doesn't stop it being loaded, it is just that ASCA doesn't (can't) do anything in EA mode.

Surely, if you are always going to be using EA mode you should just uninstall ASCA, or at least rename its EXE or its folder.  Since EA mode can be turned on or off within P3D without restarting it, you'd want ASCA running for the case of turning EA off.

Hi Hans, because the user can just switch between EA or legacy mode (without EA) HIFI decided not to provide an option to prevent ASCA from loading with AS for the moment. One reason is because they don´t want to produce unessecary claims about "ASCA seems not working" when the user himself just forgot that he switched it off to load on AS startup. On the other hand, ASCA is doing nothing if the SIM is in EA mode, and also the background standby of it doesn´t consume any noticable performance. It´s for the moment the better option to have it loaded in case the user switch between the modes frequently, what some are doing in fact.

If someone really don´t want it that way and want to force ASCA beeing ingnored the user has several ways like rename the ASCA.EXE, uninstall etc. But HiFi just don´t see any benfit from ASCA being not loaded.

That´s what Damian told me in the beta forum.

P3D V6 -  PC spec: Intel i9-9900 overclocked 5 GHz HT off, 32 GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX3090 24GB, 2xM2 SSD, Skalarki HomeCockpit and Jeehell FMGS on a dedicated Server, PF3 for ATC, MCE, GSX, EFB, AS+ASCA+ENV and OrbXpf3-supporter.gif

ASCA won't stop working.

But it just changes cloud textures which are NOT USED wenn using EA.

Thanks Pete, Bernd and Joe. I then will just leave it as is. I won't be using EA all the time, I was just wondering if ASCA would be intervening with EA when loaded at P3D's startup.

I'm not sure. Can you show me your settings?

At this moment I still use FSGRW. That is because it supports multi view pc in a network.

In the coming weeks I will be testing with ASP3D.

I will make a new thread and post my last VolumetricClouds.cfg settings. That is an improved version of my last one ( that is the one LM has used for HF1 ).
