Following climb with A320NX

Featured Replies

Hello,

Maybe it is a dumb question but can't figure it out,

I tried 2 flights today, one with FBW a320nx dev version and one with the custom version

I fill my flight plan based on Simbrief and put SimB altitude in alt constraints but the plane climb very slowly (400ft/min) and do not reach desired altitude in time, it seems to follow the constraint with one point late,

So I set my cruise altitude at FL370 with the wheel on the mcp, and then I except the plane to climb at FL370 respecting alt constraints,

In this case on CILLI I should be at FL316 but the plane stay at FL206 which was the constraints fro ADSIX, then when I reached CILLI and heading to MENBO only there it climb to FL316

Am I doing something wrong or the plane is still buggy ? even with FBW dev or custom version ?

Thanks

No direct answer to your issue but the dev version is exactly that, a dev version. Whereas the stable 0.4.2 was not updated since some days, at least not after msfs update 1.11.7. so, it may be that they have issues. I recommend to try the custom fbw version. It was recently updated (you can see changes at https://github.com/flybywiresim/a32nx/tree/fbw/docs) and I just did a (perfect) flight from Munich to Abu Dhabi.

Download link to the custom FBW version is https://flybywiresim-packages.nyc3.cdn.digitaloceanspaces.com/vmaster-cfbw/A32NX-master-cfbw.zip.

Nop just some liveries 😞

So I dont know if I am doing well,

Looks like you are stuck in ALT CST as shown at the top of the PFD. If you are in 'managed altitude mode' it should say CLB with ALT under it in blue. You can always switch to 'selected altitude mode' then set 'vertical speed' to +1500 then engage 'vertical speed mode'. If this clears the constraint you can go back to 'managed altitude mode'

You could try setting a flight plan in the sim on the world map, starting on the runway, ready to fly, and see what happens. That would hopefully tell you whether it’s a bug with the plane or how you are using the AP vs something you’re not setting right during startup.

There are lots of good YouTube tutorials on the A320 cold and dark setup that might point out something you’re missing.
