December 13, 20205 yr Thanks to my discovery of IVAO's Concorde Anniversary Round The World Tour I now have several routes suitable for the supersonic beauty. https://www.ivao.aero/Worldtour/2017/sst/Concorde World Tour 2017a.pdf The second flight is from KJFK to SOCA. Definitely filing an IFR flight plan!! I do wish the lighting was a little bit better for taxiing out. Right. Time to let New York know that we're on the way! What do you mean overspeed?? She IS speed! (FSX NOTAM - still getting to grips with the airspeed in the climb..) Descending towards French Guiana and slowing down. Being vectored for the RWY08 ILS ...and overshooting the localiser.. Got her down OK. (FSX NOTAM - shame the bogies don't pivot..) Welcome to Cayenne – Félix Eboué Airport Enjoy! Despite its quirks, I still like the DC Designs offering, especially as it was released in the twilight years - some might say complete dark age - of FSX.. 🍻 Mark Robinson Part-time Ferroequinologist Author of FLIGHT: A near-future short story (ebook available on amazon) I made the baby cry - A2A Simulations L-049 Constellation Sky Simulations MD-11 V2.2 Pilot. December 14, 20205 yr So, you made it safely down...to "Cayenne – Félix Eboué"....Nice job...! (Tail-strike on touchdown...? Can't see clearly in dark and smoke...🙂...actually, you did fine...looks good in your shot...!) [BTW, Mark, your (nice) reference above has lots of useful information and data, including a reference to CIVA INS, with the statement "On this system, the Concorde crews had to enter each waypoint coordinates all along the flight. Knowing that this system was only able to store 9 waypoints, this kept them busy during the flight." It's easy to install at least one unit CIVA INS, and you can easily input 9 INS waypoints all together via a file....see my DC9 post...more than 9 wpts will take some extra work..e.g. 2 such input files, I think...haven't tried that....will do sometime...holidays are coming...🙂...]
December 19, 20205 yr Author Cheers! I'm learning to ignore a relatively high rate of descent, when, say, I'm 500 above the runway, thanks to the ground effect modelled in: I cannot say if the rate is reduced by a realistic amount, but she will float! That PDF file I linked to gives lat/long coordinates for most of the waypoints in the flight plans should you wish to enter them into a suitable INS. December 20, 20205 yr Guys, may I recommend the following tool? https://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004util&DLID=149864 It converts FS default flightplans into ADEU cards that can be loaded into the CIVA INS, assuming the panel config adds the card reader. I find it very useful especially on long haul 707 flights. Saves one the tedium of inputting all those Lat/Long coordinates. It works in FSX and I don't see why it wouldn't work in P3D too, assuming the CIVA works there. Rashid Yacine
December 20, 20205 yr Author Rashid - of course you may recommend that tool, thank you If I ever get around to installing the CIVA INS then I will certainly check it out. I'm still coming to grips with flying the bird with a plan imported into the default planner/GPS. Overspeeds on climbout (need to monitor more closely), lack of compensation after she dips her nose intercepting the glideslope. Looks like you're a "Pro" loading card-reader files via the CIVA/ADEU...🙂...So, the tool creates a series of ADEU cards for any number of waypoints from the FS flightplan, so, one does not have to create the LAT/LONG entries manually in the file (to be loaded), surely it makes it much easier... Downloaded the tool just now...will use it on an (older...🙂...) plane...thanks again...!!
