December 14, 20205 yr Just bought the GTN 750 and ran the installer and spent the last couple days trying to troubleshoot it in stock FSX. I have a stable FSX installation started from the original DVD's on a Win7Pro box with multiple extra items including the old RealityXP 430WAAS GPS working and multiple airplanes by Carenado, Milviz, etc. The user's manual references the "Add-On" menu and the troubleshooting section mentions an installer file "SimConnect.msi on the original installation disks". I don't have that file on the original installation disks and I've never seen an "Add-On" menu. I did a lot of googling and it seems that the GTN 750 might not be compatible with my stock version of FSX. According to google, supposedly the SimConnect.msi it seems to require is part of an SDK which only was available in the Gold Version DVDs or in something called the Acceleration Expansion Pack. Could you confirm if this is true?
December 15, 20205 yr If you push ALT and look at the FSX menu bar, do you see the Addons dropdown? Also, do any of your aircraft support the F1 GTN? They can easily be converted to the RXP GTN.. Edited December 15, 20205 yr by Bert Pieke Bert
December 15, 20205 yr Author I have FSX Standard Edition installed from DVD's and updated using the automatic updates. The ALT key menu has never shown an Addons dropdown. Googling suggests this was a feature that came out in something called either the Deluxe Edition or the Acceleration Add-On pack? The only airplane I have that might support the F1 GTN is a Carenado Navajo. I see an F1GTN750PA31310.exe in the SimObjects\Airplanes\Carenado Pa31 folder. I don't think my versions of the Alabeo 421, Carenado 340, Milviz 310, Flysim MU-2, or Eaglesoft twinkie have a GTN option.
December 15, 20205 yr You say updated using the automatic updates... do you mean SP1 and SP2? If so, you are at the latest level and all should be well. For the Navaho, you should run the F1GTN exe which will put a (dark) GTN in the panel. Even if you cannot get the Addon menu to drop down, you can edit the panel.cfg file and replace the F1 GTN by the RXP one. Can you post the lines in the panel cfg file that have F1GTN in them? I would expect two: the popup window and the virtual cockpit. [WindowXX] ... gauge00=F1GTN!GTN750, 0,0,937,887,UNIT1.POP and [VcockpitXX] .... gaugeXX=F1GTN!GTN750VC, X,Y,W,H,UNIT1 to be replaced by: [WindowXX] ... gauge00=rxpGTN!GTN_750_1, 0, 0,937,887 and [VcockpitXX] ... gauge00=rxpGTN!GTN_750_1, X, Y,W,H,NO_BEZEL Also, please verify that in the FSX\Gauges folder, there is an rxpGTN.gau or rxpGTN.dll file! December 16, 20205 yr Author Wow! Thank you, thank you. Edited the cfg and it works wonderfully now. They're making me learn how to use this new fangled GPS after flying needles. The 430's and 530's seemed like cheating at the time. This seems like with this thing you don't even need to have to workt to be a pilot anymore.

February 9, 20215 yr @PiperTwinkie the RXP GTN requires a minimum of FSX SP2 or FSX Acceleration Pack (otherwise FSX Steam Edition). You must install at least SP2, if not for the GTN, for the stability and the bug fixes.
