December 16, 20205 yr Hello all, I do not know if I have a problem or if it is in fact, an MSFS problem. I noticed that after the last update, I no longer had the Citation Longtitude or the Boeing 787. Could not find them in the Community or the Official folder nor in the Profi8le/Content Manager. I decided to do a Re-install as 3 previous reinstalls have gone smoothly. I went through the normal, move the community folder, uninstall and then to Market Place/Gaming where normal download of the installation app (1.32GB) proceeds. After that finished, I was automatically routed to the load of MSFS2020 where ultimately I received an error message "Access to the content servers is currently unavailable. Please ensure you have an active internet connection, and try again later." The only option is to "quit" and then I have the music and "Press any Key" message . This is followed by XBpx Live and WriestBoar82162 Welcome back with an option to switch accounts or Lets Play. I press "Lets Play and this whole process eventually becomes a loop. Pressing the "switch account only gives me the Microsoft account option , which I am already signed into. Further, I have been trying to do this for 3 days now with the same messages and procedure as outlined above. There is nothing wrong with my internet which is averaging over 45MPS on Speed of Me internet tester. I believe it may well have something to do with having to sign into an XBox account and this is something I do not wish to explore as I have no XBox and I cannot see the point in doing so. I have never seen this before and I have not deviated from my normal re-install procedure. Has anyone got any ideas on what is actually occurring here. Regards Tony Tony Chilcott. My System. December 17, 20205 yr Even the Steam version requires one to log in to XBox Live. I do not have, nor will I be getting, an XBox. However, MS has integrated the XBox gaming ecosystem into Windows 10. There are a couple of XBox apps that need to on Windows 10 in order to play some games, including MSFS. You can use your MS account to log in to XBox live. It's all Microsoft stuff, so no worries there. At least no more worries than usual. Hope that helps, ...jim PS. After logging in to XBox Live, if you still have issues, log out of everything including Windows 10, reboot and give it another go. December 17, 20205 yr This suggestion should be pinned! Yesterday I decided to move MSFS to a bigger SSD only to find that the protected folder couldn't be removed. I was able to take control of the folders, but I decided instead to do a clean install of my OS (latest edition) and clean install of MSFS. After MSFS loaded I checked the user contents and there was nothing there. Since I had my Content & Community Folders backed up all I had to do is restore those through simple drag and drop. Do yourself a big favor and keep a back up of the content folder so you do not have to re-download all your content. MSFS
December 18, 20205 yr Author Update I eventually contacted Microsoft customer support. and they diagnosed, after accessing my system, a Windows problem. They did a complete reinstall of Win 10 and said that that re-install would fix all my problems. A note here .... I did a Win Update about 10 days ago and therefore fail to see how Win10 was the incorrect version (see below) After the reinstall of Windows 10 I started MSFS and came up with the same problem. So much for that LOL I then went to ZenDesk again to find nothing in their menu to do with this problem. I then found (silly me) a search box into which I inserted my error text. It told me to sign out of Microsoft Store app which I did. Following that I had to exit XBox app (which I had never downloaded) and XBox Companion (ditto) XBox App was there so I got out of that but the Companion was not. I then rebooted the computer, as per instructions, and then signed into the Microsoft store. Then I started MSFS again and this time I got the XBox panel which requires a "switch Account" or "Lets Play" I clicked on "lets play" and up it all came. At this time I am 11GiB into the download and install process and I confidently expect things to progress smoothly from here. I have no idea if the latest MSFS update caused this or the fact that I was still on Win10 1909 instead of Win10 2020 (which the MS consultant advised was the cause of the problem) At this stage, I have not signed in to XBox and MSFS seems to be doing things normally without it. If any further problems crop up I shall advise but I would like to say a big thank you to all the respondents for their help and advice. 16 hours ago, DJJose said: but I decided instead to do a clean install of my OS (latest edition) and clean install of MSFS. Essentially, this is what eventually, I did, I do not think a clean Win Install should be an essential part of each or any install or reinstall of MSFS. I have to admit though that it may have contributed to my solution and resolution of the MSFS problem. Thanks again guys Tony Tony Chilcott. My System. Motherboard.
