Rolling cache problem

Featured Replies

I tried to reset the rolling cache figuring that it might help with the terrain spike issue.  I deleted it and when trying to recreate it, nothing happens.  I get the message saying that it might take a few minutes etc, but all I get is the spinning circle. The weird thing is right below the message saying don't turn off your computer it says 100%.  I've left it for over a half hour and nothing.  I tried 8 gb and 32 gb and no joy.  I have a fast SSD and I remember doing this once before and it worked fine, very fast.  The only difference is there have been a couple of patches since the last time I reset it.  Any ideas?

So its not only me with spikes sticking out from the ground. I sucessfully recreated rolling caache but mountains of spikes still there.

I would try to create it on another drive then if sucesfull redo it again o nth4e SSD.

Simming since FS 98. MSFS rig - Ryzen 3600 4.2Ghz - 32GB RAM 3600Mhz - Motherboard MSI 570 A Pro - RTX 2080 Ti -all overclocked - 2xNVME storage. PSU Corsair HX850i platinum. Average 30Fps on 4K ultra.

I believe ASOBO are aware of the spikes caused by upgrading the terrain LOD and have said that they will be fixed in the January update.

Deleting and rebuilding caches make no difference.

Ryzen 5800X3D, Nvidia RTX5080 - 32 Gig DDR4 RAM, 1TB & 2 TB NVME drives - Windows 11 64 bit MSFS 2024 Premium Deluxe Edition Resolution 2560 x 1440 (32 inch curved monitor)

I've had to do a complete reinstall over the last 24hrs, so I can say with 100% certainty this is not a cache issue, or indeed anything which the user can fix.

Down to Asobo I'm afraid.

If you do not fly only still the same small area, you don't need the rolling cache at all. So you can deactivate it.

I created it in a new folder on the same drive and it worked perfectly.  Strange how it wouldn't work on the default location.  Thanks.

While I don't do it all the time I do tend to fly in the same area.  Plus my internet provider is going to implement a data cap at the end of the month.  While I don't anticipate breaking it, I am using it a lot more lately (I'm a teacher and thanks to the pandemic I'm having to connect with my students on Zoom every day), so if I can save on streaming then so much the better.
