January 9, 20215 yr I have been trying to get my Reality GTN 750 and 650 working after I had a problem with the installation screen turning black with Flight Sim X not responding. As part of the trouble shooting I did a complete uninstall and reinstall of my Reality products. When I did that I found that the only version of the Garmin trainer that would work with it is the 6.21 version with the out dated NAV data. Before I know that I was able to use updated version of the Trainer because the airport that I fly out of in real life just changed the runway numbers and when I purchased the 750 I got the new runway information with it. Any Garmin Trainer above 6.21 simply dose not start in Flight Simulator X and the repGtnSim.dll error reads that the trainer can not be found or is not supported. I tried to update the database files from another post that RXP had with several file downloads but when I ran the _setup.msi it says that a newer version has already been installed. The .cab flies are downloaded into a folder and just sitting there right now. One post mentioned that I could change the path that looks for databases "edit/create a GTNDBFILE environment variable with the path to your DB file, like "C:\myfiles\my_new_avdb.bin" was the term. Can some one tell me where to edit this information is?

Upgrades the Garmin trainer as well to April 2020 database. If you have already had the newer Garmin Trainer installed and run into issues then you may need to uninstall both RXP and the Trainer and then start the update. I had not updated anything yet and the update process went smoothly, automatically prompting me for the Garmin Trainer update install. January 12, 20215 yr Author fppilot thanks for your suggestion. I tried the Reality XP update program. I was running version 2.5.27.2 then it updated to version 2.5.28 with an additional update to my Garmin trainers, now up to version 3.0.0. I had to manually launch the update .zip file so that might have been part of my problem. Now I have the April 2020 update. It’s time for some practice approaches and maybe some Pilot Edge!
