CONTROLING SPEED OF SLEW MODE

Featured Replies

What setting controls the speed of the AC when moving it in slew mode?  When setting a parking gate, it is never lined up where it should.  I put it in slew, I can yaw it and move forward or backward slowly, but to go laterally left or right, I find myself at the outskirts of the airport.  I tried all the camera settings for speed, but that doesn't do it.

Here is a trick.

While in normal mode, try reducing sim speed by pressing R + left control and "-" on numpad 3 times.  Then press "y" to go in slew mode and your slew mode is reduced now.

Gaming Laptop:
MSI GS75 Stealth 5.6GHz Intel Core i9 - 10th gen 16 core CPU  -  32 GB DDR4 SDRAM  - 1TB SSD - RTX 2080 Super - 1920x1080 - 3 fans and cooling pipes.

I have a Honeycomb yoke. What works for me is to set the fwd, back, left, right slew translate to the elevator & aileron axis of the control yoke.

For turning in slew mode I set one of the lateral buttons on the R/H yoke to yaw Left & Right.

This works such  that in slew mode (Y,)  the controls slew the A/C at a speed depending on the amount of control input.

Up Elevator Translate BKD. DN elevator translate FWD. LFT Aileron Translate Left, RT aileron Translate Right

Turning is achieved using the bound switch.

It was a bit tricky to get the axis correct so the A/C translates in the right direction. But it works

Brilliant!!!

Thanks!

What Trainut just said will solve all your slew problems, at least it did mine. I thought there would never be a solution.

I just tried this and it makes no difference that you already have ailerons and elevator mapped onto your stick or yoke. Those control surfaces will not move when you are in the Slew mode. Instead your plane will move. A little bit and slowly, or a lot and swiftly depending on how far you move the controller. Hit the Y (slew) key again and the stick or yoke goes back to normal control surface functions.

Thanks again!

By the way I didn't need all those 12 Function key commands because I have flaps, mixture, throttle, prop pitch and so forth on my controllers, so don't need the F keys for doing those.

So, I had removed them and instead put all the slew commands up there on the Fx keys.

But now I can remove them because starting from right now my stick and rudder will be doing all my slewing.

Which means I have all those Fx keys unused and ready to be mapped with something  else now.

For some reason I did not think of using the rudder pedals to slew the yaw axis. Thanks, I will try it.

Kev

Using rudder to slew yaw works great, you can move very slight amounts and line up.
