Corrupted Iris Simulations files

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I've come back to flight simming world, last summer Iris put all their software up for free which i gladly got. I've come back now to redownload them and see that they have change their website design (i dont know if that has anything to do what I'm about to explain). I was able to download and run the files before hand on Iris but now each time i download them and try to open the zip or run the application from winRAR, it either says its invalid or corrupt. I've tried to email Iris but they haven't responded to my email i sent about two weeks ago now 😞 . Can anyone please help me??

Welcome back and welcome to the forum(s). Corrupted files are typically a problem with the internet connection. Invalid flies can be either that or just a bad file from the source. What is the URL (source) from which you are downloading?.....Doug

That is my experience too. It also may be worth trying to download them again with your antivirus deactivated (if you haven't  already done that) as I have found that an antivirus can sometimes cause issues that will not allow a downloaded file to be opened and results in an 'invalid' error message.

I've tried downloading them with the AntiVirus off, I've tried every trick in the book annoyingly. Looks like I'll be stuck.

Hi Doug,

I'm downloading from the Iris Simulations main website

UPDATE: I've tried twice again to download one specific file (the Grob G155E Tutor). The file says it should be 411MB big, I've tried downloading this time without my wifi but on my iPhone's 4G hotspot. I studied the download closely and both times it reaches 185MB downloaded and completes without reaching 411MB. The folder properties also tell me it holds 185MB. Is there anything I can do? I've tried so many times to contact Iris but they haven't replied as if they are ignoring me.

Thank you for you ongoing help

Jake

I am not one for defending poor support but, to be fair to Iris, unlike some other developers that I won’t mention, they generally provide good and friendly support so not responding to you seems out of character for them. However as I understand, they are just a two person team and perhaps in these unprecedented times other things have intervened that have led to the slow response.

Can't re-download a plane I paid for.  Surely they could have left this function open.

I'd try it and see what happens but since it's a payware item I can't do that.

I had the exact same problem with another one of their files. I resolved the issue by downloading the file onto my iphone over 4G, then I transferred the file to my PC.  I had previously tried downloading onto my pc and each time the file would be a different size and corrupt.  Hopefully this helps.  Cheers.
