Low cpu usage and high Gpu usage

Hi! I have been having dreadful fps in p3d and i think i know why. The cpu usage is at about 9% whilst the gpu is at 99-100. Anyone know why this could be?

 

Specs: 3080, 5900x, 32 gb ram 3600 cl 18

P3Dv5 or P3Dv4?  Screen resolution?

The options that present the biggest hits to GPU load include EA, SSAA, dynamic lighting, shadows, reflections, HD clouds (and many layers of them) and large numbers of PBR objects.

I'd start by looking at those and dialing those options back some.

Im using V4 with 2560x1440 resolution and i have tried to reduce a lot of the settings but its still lagging

I forgot to mention but on another post i made a problem connected to this is that i get huge lag spikes every 20 seconds that lasts for like 6-8 seconds

And also i just tried now again and when i got a lag spike i got a spinning blue circle and it said that p3d had stopped responding and after 10 seconds it started working again

update again i just put everything to the absolute lowest setting and i am still getting lag spikes

Do you have Navigraph Simlink installed? I was getting huge FPS drops until I uninstalled that.

Thanks for the response! No i dont think so, i have the fms data manager could that have something to do with it??

Also i now know that the reason for the big lag spikes is the pmdg 737 ngxu because it doesnt happen with any other aircraft. I think that it has something to do with loading in because from what i have noticed it only happens in the air.

I left the data manager installed and have no more problems.

If I were you I would run DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) -- a free download -- and get all traces of the vid driver out.  Then install the latest nvidia driver and go from there.

Also make sure "Prefer Maximum Performance" is set as default in your nvidia control panel settings.

If the above do not work post back.

Just curious if you managed to get your issues solved? I've got a new pc on order with 3080/5900x also so was just wondering...hoping I don't need to upgrade already to a 3090 😅
