December 20, 200619 yr >Hey Guys>>I really do hate to sound like a nagging house-wife, but the>truth is that by buying these FSX "compatible" over priced>A/C, you are contributing to the R&D fund for a real FSX>aircraft at some point in the future. Just stop contributing.>Let these commercial developers fund these efforts on their>own. >Regards>BobI hate to be the provider of "correct information" :), but the FSX version was FREE for FS9 version 2 users. I purchased version months ago and it was a substantial improvement from the original. I used the plane almost exclusively for bush flying with improved frame rates and smooth VC for FS9. If you are talking about the Navajo then I do not understand you argument. Happy Holidays to you!Bob.. Bob Prince
December 20, 200619 yr Hi BobNo I was speaking of the FSX version. I would take a serious look at an aircraft the was designed from the bottom up for FSX not a ported over FS9 version. This type of port can be accomplished by most simmers by themselves or if they need some help, it is here at avsim.Secondly I do believe that most developers are still in the learning phase of the new Software Development Kits so it may be some time in the future till we begin to see high quality pure FSX aircraft. The reason the FSX version was free to version 2 users is because the Aircraft is just a port so to speak. If it was a pure FSX version, it would not be free.RegardsBob G
December 20, 200619 yr Since most poster's on this thread have the Navajo V2 installed in FS9, I have a request. The next time you take a trip and before start-up, check to see if you have any fan sounds, maybe ground vent fan or the ECS fan. Then when you get airborne and when it's convenient, stall the airplane and see if you have a stall horn.I had filemon return a couple "not found" files. One was FSDFan2.wav and FSD_Stallhorn.wav. I replaced those files in the Navajo sound folder and still don't have any stall horn or fan sounds.I did notice that the sound cfg. called for pnstallhorn.wav. I couldn't get that file to play by itself, I might have to alter the cfg and call for FSD_Stallhorn.wav to play. The Feds really frown on permanent placards for non-op equipment.I would reinstall the $18 upgrade Navajo V2 if I could. I made the mistake of uninstalling the Navajo V1 and I think that prevents me from re-installing the $18 Navajo V2 32.2 MB upgrade again.thanks Daryll
December 20, 200619 yr Navajo v2 for FSX is well worth it in my opinion...a few bugs to be worked but no showstoppers and it's the least FPS intrusive (on my system). In terms of FSX payware add-ons, I've purchased MIG-15, Feelthere ERJ (FSX upgrade), Eaglesoft Hawker, and the Navajo--Navajo wins out--modeling is superb. Garmin is good but buttons in VC mode are very limited--it's pretty much the default GPS from FSIX. One minor hit is paint-kit--and that's self-induced since I haven't spent the time to figure it out--just seems a bit over complicated at the start.FSD is very good about timely updates/patches. Navajo was/is perhaps one of the best twin pistons of all time.Rake
December 21, 200619 yr Is anyone else still having lighting issues with the Navajo? I've installed the service release 3 and now the panels lights and floods turn on in the 2D panel, but when I switch to VC, they are off. I can turn them on in the VC but then they are out again in the 2D and I can't get them back on. It SHOULD be a global thing where if they're turned on in the 2D, they should be on in the VC.I've posted on the FSD forum but gotten no response. The other issue I have, is that the engine controls are not illuminated in the VC so it's impossible to set the altitude on the autopilot. I'm curious if others have this problem or if it's just me.Thanks,Jim
December 21, 200619 yr The lighting works ok on my system. The autopilot is clickable if you use the "A" key to step through to the preset autopilot VC view. Try and see if that works for you. Bob... Bob Prince
December 21, 200619 yr Jim,I just checked the lighting issue again. I use TrackIR4 in the VC almost exclusively, but I see the same issue as you. The 2d gauge lighting is spectacular! However, if I switch to the VC then back to 2d, I lose the panel/gauge lighting in 2d. At least you know you're not alone!Bob.. Bob Prince
December 21, 200619 yr Thanks Bob. Sorry you have the same problem, but glad I'm not alone.I hope they can get it fixed, I love the Navajo but it's difficult to fly at night the way it is.Jim
December 21, 200619 yr >Nice add-on for FSX with both 2D and VC cockpits/limited FPS>impact.>However, unable to get Garmin GPS and instrument lights to>work in VC mode...anyone with similar out there?>>I queried FSD directly and I got what appears to be a generic>response--reinstall/reboot/must be my system.Rake,Hate to tell you, but software vendors get tons of inquiries. Its normal to get generic responses. They have a servicepack 3 posted on their site. I don't think I noticed this issue before (probably just did not see it) but I installed #3 and am not seeing this now. Try installing that and see if you still got a problem.
December 21, 200619 yr I have not seen a clear statement that FSD's Piper Navajo v2 works completely/correctly in FSX. Would someone having it please let me know? Thanks, Waldo.
December 21, 200619 yr There is an update for Version 2 to FSX, and a service release. The only issues I have with the Navajo are as stated above. There are lighting issues in the 2D and VC. You can use one or the other but not switch back and forth without having problems. At least that's what I'm seeing, perhaps others aren't having the issue. There hasn't been a definitive answer from FSD acknowledging the issue.Jim

December 23, 200619 yr I also have the lighting issues, plus many switches in VC do not function - posted on FSD forum. One thing I'd like though is if someone could post a screenshot of the overhead panel in the VC of the Navajo v2 (FSX). Mine looks remarkably crude - you can't even make out the lettering, which is a surprise given the photo-like quality of most of the interior. Just wondered if I was seeing it correctly. (Makes no difference what Quality setting I use in Load Manager). Thanks in anticipation.Gary
