Working with pre-saved flight plans

Featured Replies

I have many Little Nav Map flight plans and they can be easily exported to MSFS. Usually, I start a flight cold&dark at a parking position. After powering up the aircraft I want to load a pre-saved flight plan. But if I do so, MSFS puts me directly to the runway entrance. So I cannot taxi to the runway, which is too bad because taxiing experience at some airports can be pretty nice and very immersive.

Is there a possibilty to prevent MSFS putting me directly to the runway when I load a pre-saved flight plan?

At the world screen when setting up your flight, hit  "load plan" (spacebar) and choose your plan. Use the dropdowns under departure location and pick your gate or GA parking. Do not pick your gate from the map or MSFS will recalculate (and totally destroy) your plan.

I would also avoid picking  SIDs and STARs from the map screen as that can also mess with the plan.

Otherwise, pick your weather / traffic / multiplayer options and hit "fly now"

Albeit if you start cold and dark your flight will not be properly logged.....  No takeoff!  Isn't this fun?

I don't care much about logging, but for sure this may be an issue for some of us.

It is worth noting that the GN430/530 mod (compatible with Mooney, Cessna 172 etc )   lets you save your flight plans in a folder that the in game GPS can access while flying meaning you can change and load flight plans from the aircraft mid air.

Hence you can spawn your aircraft and then load the flight plan into the gn530 and make any changes. I find this invaluable if I am joining a multiplayer stream and running late as I can spawn at whatever location they have reached then load the stream flight plan. It is also handy if you have a couple of alternate routes depending on weather as if the live weather changes you just load your alternate flight plan.
