Pause Graphics

Featured Replies

I was wondering if there was a way pause the Sim such that the graphics card can rest and cool down while I take a break. I am running with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 and as most cards, it runs warm when the Sim is flying through the beautiful scenery that we have in MSFS 2020.  This would be much nicer than a total shutdown.

Thanks,

SR

You can hit the Pause button, and minimize the sim, but what I do, is set Vsync to on and limit fps to 30 in MSFS Graphics settings.  That way, my GTX 1070 never gets hot in the first place.. 😉

Cool idea, Bert. (Pun intended 😉). I just made the changes and temp is dropping as I watch.  6 deg. C already. Will see how far it goes.

Thank you very much.

I use Riva Tuner SS.  I limit frames per second to as low as 10 while MSFS is shrunk to the background, the GPU temperatures plummet, and fan noise of course.

If you can't find your MSFS executable file to set this up, just use the global setting.  It is still fine for browsing etc.

I mainly use this during updates, as my last one, about 22GB, took me a whole day, and I don't want my GPU raging all day.
The energy saving is significant over a day as well.

My system doesnt seem to get too hot, so i dont worry about that, but if i take a break to answer the phone, make a coffee, etc. I just hit 'esc' and when I come back a few minutes later, just hit 'esc' again.

Not sure, but I think going into windowed mode and reducing the window size might reduce the load, if someone would like to confirm.
