Working Title - Suggestions

Recommended Posts

While specifics are still being ironed out, I wanted to start a suggestion thread so that WT has more info on what the community would like to see in the future…

My input…

I have always like XPs Garmin system approach with some depth that 3PD Devs could leverage / tap into.

  • I like their “interactive” 2D popup (without a windows top border) that I could both resize and position (saved by plane) for easier reading / adjusting etc. 3D cockpits are nice, but having 2D popup helps me see the PFD / MFD easier and still keep an eye on what’s going on outside without having to change views.

  • I also liked the fact that I could bind keys to those hard to adjust knobs / selectors to make life a little easier.

So in general, I think that XP has a good user friendly implementation of their systems, hopefully we can see something similar or better for MSFS.

I am hoping for two things...

1. That WT can fix/replace the current Garmin flight plan management system, so that it behaves like the real unit.

- Add / remove waypoints on the FPL page

- Direct-to a waypoint in the flightplan without losing the flightplan

- No more "USER" waypoint

- Clean up of overflown waypoints, so that the FPL page shows the current leg

- Big one:  LPV approaches that behave like the real thing (!)

2.  Change the SDK so that 3rd party GPS units can override the GPS and HSI variables, which would allow companies like RXP to introduce a Garmin Trainer based GNS or GTN, that would be able to steer the autopilot (like it can in P3D and XPlane).

I'd like the G1000 to be working like the real thing.. VFR and all things possible in for an IFR flight. There be no difference to the demo put out by Garmin.

I'm totally happy if they don't have every piece like the real one but I would like the navigation to be sound and hopefully as good as the real one.  If their CJ is any indication I think we'll be in good hands

+2²  (what he said)

And with these proposed units the reach to a more complete nav database.

If they complete it to look like the Garmin Demo, where is the need for a 3 rd party? 🙂

That is a big "if"  ..

I have not seen anyone produce a GTN 750 look-alike, but I am prepared to be surprised/delighted.. 😉

I see your point about the GTN 750. I agree..other than the G1000 being as good as the Garmin Demo.  an API for 3rd party vendors to do their Garmin products would be helpful. True. I too would like a Reality XP 530 etc.

If they do a complete G1000/G3000, I can order one of those Cockpit hardware with knobs and buttons for the G1000/3000 and build  a nice new home cockpit. And when I am flyijng the Airliners, I can use the monitors to move the pop up from the MFD and PFD over and use it like that. 🙂

I would add :

- Direct-to with the possibility to select the course, that's an awesome feature to get a virtual localizer on every runway.

First time I saw it was on the RXP GNS530, if I remember well.

MSFS can do popup windows?

The GTN can do it automatically...if you're referring to adding a visual approach with vertical guidance.  Otherwise you might be referring to OBS mode where you can intercept a track towards or away from any fix.  The RXP GTN and GNS can also do this.

Actually Asobo may have just added this feature in tht latest update. (OBS mode)

It's really only for horizontal navigation, at least on the RXP GNS530, you enter a direct to an airport and under the CRS the runway heading, it will create a track to the runway from infinity.

Right but with the RXP GTN...it will provide vertical guidance as well and plot a descent to the runway.  I think the Pro Line 21 FMS will also do this in the CJ.

Yep, it's working well with the pro line, I never used the GTN before.

I really need to try the OBS feature, on what standard MSFS devices is it present, GNS530, G1000, G3000?
