Airline Names in FSX

Featured Replies

First of all, I wish everyone a safe, happy, and healthy holiday!I am in search for a listing of airline names FSX ATC will say to match my AI aircraft.Right now I have only "Landmark", "Pacifica", "Soar", etc., but want to use "United", "US Air" and so forth.Anyone know where I can find the list?many thanks!

If you used Editvoice pack in FS9 for all the airline names it created a file called USEnglishBig.gvp. The file can be found in the Sound directory of FS9. If you used the European language version, it might have a slightly different name. You copy that file to the FSX directory called ATC which is in the Sound directory. Back up your original first and move it out of there. The new file provides the various airline names.Lee

I am not sure where this list is, but I think it is perhaps in the AIRLINES.CFG file. But all you need to do is put "United" in the atc_airline= entry in the aircraft's aircraft.cfg file and you'll get it. For US Air you might try "USAIRWAYS" but I would look in AIRLINES.CFG. Quite a few real world airlines seem to be programmed in already. I put "Northwest" in for my NWA AI aircraft and atc happily says, "Northwest 214, turn right heading 335".RhettAMD 3700+ (@2530 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8, WD 250 gig 7200 rpm SATA2, CoolerMaster Praetorian

Editvoice pack would have also created an updated airlines list. Usually it puts it in the FS9 aircraft directory.Lee

That is correct Rhett, it is in the Airlines.cfg file in FSX (also in FS9 when I had it). But, I just wanted the actual names of the major world airlines to put in there, because FSX comes with only a few fictional airline names. Thanks for the response.

One thing you can do is download repaints for the default aircraft and then just substitute the repaints for the "fictional airlines" aircraft. A simple cut & paste in the aircraft.cfg file will do this. ( see the "//" 800 cfg file that I modified after downloading Malev and Air France texture packages. I also have BA, Delta and SAS textures for that aircraft that I've editied into Paint4, 5 and 6 entries. Thanks Paul,But I think the names of the airlines must first be in the "airlines.cfg" file before ATC will say them.I just need the actual list of Airline Names to put in that list.I used to have it in a folder when I used FS9, but misplaced it over the years.

Hi,I have the modified list. Please drop me an e-mail.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

Have you tried putting atc_airline=United in your aircraft's aircraft.cfg file? That should do it for United. What I'm saying is that while AIRLINES.CFG has a limited listing, there are in reality many more real world airlines coded into the sim. AIRLINES.CFG is by no means a complete listing.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2530 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8, WD 250 gig 7200 rpm SATA2, CoolerMaster Praetorian

Oh yes, that reminds me, I have a United CRJ, and I put United in the file and it works.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2530 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8, WD 250 gig 7200 rpm SATA2, CoolerMaster Praetorian

The airlines.cfg list is only a reference as to what is available and can be put in the aircraft.cfg. What counts is the edit voicepack created USEnglishBIG.gvp file.Lee

airlines.cfg is what provides the menu list when you select callsign for the user aircraft.scott s..

But I think what the OP needs to realize is that many real world airlines appear to already be in the default FSX USEnglishBIG.gvp file. Knowing exactly what's in the file, now that's the kicker.Look at what I have in my airlines.cfg:AirwaveWorld TravelGaiaOrbitSoarLandmarkPacificaGlobal FreightwaysAmerican PacificEmerald Harbor AirNorthwestUnitedAir ForceUnitedGlobal FreightUPSAnd FSX's ATC will say all of them, and that's without editvoicepack. I don't have any "SOars" or "Orbits" in MY world :) Paul
