March 13, 20215 yr Hello eveyone. It's been over 5 years since I leave flight simming at all. Looks like I'm ready to now buy P3D V5 and stuff. But how it comfortable with 8700K and 1080 Ti on V5 with decent graphics settings, Active Sky, PMDG planes and etc? Really miss cruising around the world. My monitor is 1920x1080 i7 8700K @4.8Ghz | Noctua NH-D15 | Asus ROG Maximus XI Hero | G.Skill TridentZ 4x8GB @3700Mhz | ROG Strix OC RTX 3080 Ti
March 13, 20215 yr It should not be a problem with that set up. I was flying P3Dv4 with the same CPU and had already reasonable peformance with my 1070 Ti with the same add-ons you listed above With P3D v5.1 most of us saw a performance gain and improvement in fluidity over P3Dv4 so providing your Display settings are not set all the way to the right I would expect that to run quite nicely, especially on a 1080p monitor. My monitor is 1920x1080 That's almost the same spec as my 'image generator' PC which drives 2 x 1920x1080 projectors and I have no VRAM problems (11GB is plenty still) and the 1080Ti is still a fast card and supports all of the graphical bells and whistles P3D can do. If your 8700K is decently overclocked, so much the better. V5 gives a significant performance boost anyway vs V4 on the same hardware provided you meet the minimum realistic specs (CPU @ 5GHz or above and 10 series+ GPU with 8GB VRAM or more). It's only really lower-end machines that were borderline with V4 but tank on V5 due to the higher graphical requirements. (And actually, I run a GTX980Ti as one of 2 GPUs in my other sim PC - it only runs 2D panels, true, but it's still DX12 and it's fine.)
