I'm having an issue where my oculus link is crashing often. Could it be because of the change in resolution and higher settings is not playing nice with the transition to oculus? Starting to think this might be connected. ROG MAXIMUS X HERO, Intel Core i7 8700K, 32 GB's 3200 RAM, Gigabyte RTX3080,
March 23, 20215 yr Author Thanks for the reply. I must admit I've never had any link crashes. First i was using an USB 3 lead till my dog decided it looked better in her mouth. So I thought ( Despite numerous posts saying don’t, it’s not worth the extra cost ) I went and bought the Oculus lead. But not had any crashes with either. I am using an Acer non 4k with a DVI input Edited March 23, 20215 yr by Paulcoy

I’m just wondering if the change in resolution going into vr is messing with things in oculus link. ROG MAXIMUS X HERO, Intel Core i7 8700K, 32 GB's 3200 RAM, Gigabyte RTX3080,

When you render the game in VR, the monitor just gets a scaled down image that has already been rendered. There is no significant overhead and the performance is the same as having a 1080p display or not having a monitor at all. In fact you can switch it off and use only the headset, getting the same performance. 7800X3D | 2x32 GB DDR5-6000 CL32 | RTX 5080 | Alienware OLED 34" | 1 Gbps fiber
March 23, 20215 yr Author Thanks MrFuzzy. I thought that might be the case, but just wanted some clarification.
March 24, 20215 yr let me say this i am using CV1 with a GTX780 via HDMI and a 24inch 1080p screen via DVI without problems ....apart from having to fly in clear skies always due to the clouds flickering in VR (but not in PC mode) When I replaced the screen with a 27inch 1440p screen i wasn't able to change to VR mode no matter what i tried for graphics settings in the VR menu or lowering resolution in the graphics settings menu for PC mode Edited March 24, 20215 yr by avhpilot Antoine v Heck --- Ryzen 5800X3D, 32Gb DDR4 RAM@1600 Mhz, RTX3090 (24GB VRAM). 2TB SSD - VR with Quest 2 via link cable
