Windows update failures and Reverb G2

Featured Replies

I've just discovered the G2 Windows Holographic driver is oreventing the most recent Windows updates, including the 21H1 update.

If anyone else is having the same problem, this worked for me.

Unplug G2 display port and USB from PC

Open up a command prompt as an administrator and type;

dism /online /remove-capability /capabilityname:Analog.Holographic.Desktop~~~~0.0.1.0

Do the Win updates then restart PC.

Reconnect G2 and it will re download it's necessary software automagically.

Happy days!

The Reverb G2 is fine for me. Sorry if I'm being dumb but what is a G2 Windows Holographic driver, what reason would I have to install that? Thanks.

not being dumb 🙂

the driver must be for the reverb g2. it seems to prevent the recent win updates from completing. I wanted to see how the win 21h1 update would perform with VR

I've had a problem updating Windows. I'm still on 1909 as a result. The update would be downloaded and installed and the whole process would take an hour or longer with multiple restarts, so my PC was clearly doing something and it all looked like it should. However, after the update was installed, I went to the update settings page to verify the version and it still shows 1909. I tried this twice but it will always still show 1909. Is this what you've been seeing as well?

Yes it is.

I’ve got two hard drives with 1909 and 20h2 Installed which neither would successfully install any update except windows defender, until I did the above. It’s only been a recent problem.

Thanks for posting that here, I'll need to try your solution.

Thanks.  Wondered why the update wouldn’t take.

Worked perfectly for me.
