April 6, 20215 yr I havent fired up XP in a couple of years now, I really liked the sim but I ended up going back to p3d due to the lack of realistic weather. Lately I've been playing around with msfs 2020 but Im really missing the flight dynamics and system fidelity of xplane and p3d. Im thinking about getting xplane going again but I wont bother if the weather is still as it was 2 years ago. Xenviro is not an option for me as i only fly in VR, so how is active sky XP in comparison? The things I hated about xp weather were that the weather changed instantly, you couldn't see an approaching weather system and fly into it. And the next thing that was a no go was the lack of thunderstorms and high altitude weather in general. I want to see real cumulonimbus clouds that top out in the 30's and 40's. The Active sky XP sales pitch looks good, but will it actually deliver these things? Looking for an honest opinion from current users. April 7, 20215 yr I.m happy with ASXP, definitely better than the default, frame friendly and injects weather gradually, cloud textures look pretty impressive, why not have a look on YouTube where there a numerous videos showing it in action. YBCG
April 7, 20215 yr My advice is wait for XP12. Rumors are it should have a completely revised weather system. "Society has become so fake that the truth actually bothers people".

ASXP, along with xVision, the two most recommended weather add-ons for XP are excellent, but the lack of smooth transitioning or lack of distant clouds ruins the experience for me. When I added up all I invested in weather add-ons for XP, it was double what I paid for xEnviro. If your computer can handle medium settings, I highly recommend xEnviro. But I'd wait because there's a new weather add-on coming (xAmbience) and it could be the one to get. MSFS
April 8, 20215 yr I am using ASXP with Sky max Pro. I find it's the best so far. I do not use the volumetric clouds in the new version of SMP. The clouds look awful with that setting.
