For those who bought the add-on what's your overall opinion of the add-on? I watched some videos on YT, but I'd like to know about freeware/payware compatibility.

Maybe @tonywob can tell me if all the freeware airports are compatible and if this region will be further updated and are add-on airports planned for future release?

I'm a fan of tropical destinations and would like to explore this region in X-plane 11.53.

I believe anything ORBX in XPlane 11 is substantially better than default scenery.  Whether or not, you want to pay ORBX prices is another matter entirely, however, I do not believe that they are exorbitant. 

Given that I only fly in Australia and ORBX (an Australian company) has so many Australian sceneries for XPlane (1) I am really surprised anyone uses default Australian scenery. (Tongue in cheek)

ORBX TE are my preferred regions to sim with. However, airports are too important to be neglected.

I decided to see what the other sim looks like in that region:

 

 

I don't think the ORBX scenery is worthy since this exists for free https://www.spainuhd.es/p/descarga.html

I'm a canary islander and don't see anything in the ORBX scenery that justifies the 29€ cost 😉

Not sure what overlays mean. It's a high res ortho + high res mesh scenery, with automatic seasonal texture change for Teide volcano, adding some snow in winter/spring. For accurate autogen you will need to download the X-Africa OSM from SimHeaven https://simheaven.com/simdownloads/x-africa/ or this w2xp scenery from Cestomano specifically for the Canary Islands http://x-plane.cestomano.com/w2xp_canarias.7z . Particularly for Tenerife you have the Tenerife VFR scenery also from Cestomano which includes manually added characteristic buildings and forests for the island with correct tree types and everything, this has to be placed above both SpainUHD and OSM previous sceneries in the scenerypacks.ini http://x-plane.cestomano.com/Tenerife_VFR_1.36.7z

Do you also recommend the Balearic Islands? They are small files that download fast. If yes, what other files do I need to complete the experience.

I have LEPA & LEIB airports. I'll get the rest.

I haven't checked that one, but should be similar. First download and install the SpainUHD tiles for each island and then for autogen download X-Europe from SimHeaven and place it in higher priority in the scenerypacks.ini

Balearic except Mallorca is IMO weak, Ibiza and Mennorca looks weak if you're considering it to TE Great Britain for example. I don't consider both packages as real True Earth unforunatelly.
