January 7, 200719 yr I recently purchased the download version of cargo pilot directly from Justflights website about 2 weeks ago it ran me about 50.00 US . Today whilst walking through a local electronics store i see the same software in hardware form (new release )with a manual no doubt (can't verify this) for 29.00 U.S. I feel i got hosed by justflight. I mean they didn't even have to come up with a cd for the game i had to. Do they have a right to charge what they feel like they deserve , Sure, will i ever buy anything from them directly again , never. I realize that the company makes more profit if we buy direct but this was ridiculous in my book. So , the moral of the story is if you have something you want to get that Justflight produces , you might want to wait till it comes to a store near you to save money. Kampf
January 7, 200719 yr Hi,Did you think that the store marked down the software in order to get rid of it?Compare the MSRP of FSX to what we can already find it for in stores.Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

If the store dosen't think they can sell it , its been my experience that they just don't carry it. Go look at most computer / electronic stores now (in U.S), computer software is disappearing fast( quality software i mean).Kampf
January 7, 200719 yr How long did it take FSX? A few weeks. What about Best Buy or Circuit City that slash prices the VERY first week?Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

At anyrate the purpose of this thread is to WARN others that they might want to wait till the addons they want come to the local computer store VS buying them directly from Justflight, not arguing over the price , like i said in my first post justflight has every right to charge whatever they want .It's up to you if you want to save or not. January 7, 200719 yr i realised a while back...if you wait till the cd/dvd versions are released from just flight u can buy them a lot (lot lot) cheaper from play.com....ok i live in the uk...but i cant see why they charge
January 7, 200719 yr The week before christmas I bought FSX Deluxe online for $43 w/ shipping, it came on the 26th. That was the best price I found anywhere.
January 7, 200719 yr >The week before christmas I bought FSX Deluxe online for $43>w/ shipping, it came on the 26th. That was the best price I>found anywhere. Well If you are going to go off topic( or atleast miss the whole point of the thread) you could atleast tell everybody else where you got such a good deal so they could save too!;) Kampf
January 7, 200719 yr Just to chime in here - this is not limited to software but to all goods. As an example, I purchased a 2 gig memory card for my digital rebel at Staples for 112.00 US. Later that day I saw it being sold on Ebay with buy it now options for 50.00 US. I suppose I could even find it at other stores for cheaper. But would it be right for me to question business motives for or against a particular store based upon price alone? I know people sell things to make money, that is the motive and price is always likely to fluctuate. This has nothing to do with "morals" as if a profit is an evil thing or even wrong. The very fact that you had another option proves the fault lies with you sir and your rushing to purchase without doing the investigation you did post purchase... Best,Randy J. January 7, 200719 yr FWIW I bought my copy of FSX from best buy for $24.99 the weekend after thanksgiving, so its definitely been discounted.
January 7, 200719 yr I KampfI can not explain the price difference the store may have made a mistake,But When you deal with Just Flight if you have a problem with the download or the install Just Flight will give you a refund I dont think you will get this service from no other supplyer and also if you buy the product on DVD-CD there is no extra charge and no postage And If it is a airoplane you can be sure it will work. Also there is the possibility that the program as been copied and is selling cheapRegardsRex
January 8, 200719 yr I was just adding on to another person's posting about FSX price. I got my copy from a store front hosted on Amazon. The prices went up a few dollars but still under $50 w/ shipping.
January 8, 200719 yr Time to put the case for the defence!Firstly, to answer the original post, I agree that one should beware of overpriced add-ons. However, one should also beware of comparing dollar prices in North American retail stores with prices on a UK website. In order to sell in US retail software must be localised. This involves re-working the packaging to larger boxes and obtaining an ESRB rating. After many years of being unable to get our software into US retail for the resons above, we have finally been able to localise a few titles and test the water, so to speak. These titles are F-117A Stealth Fighter, Cargo Pilot, Traffic and Airbus Collection. Flying Club X and A340-500/600 should follow in the next month or so.Our suggested retail price for the above titles is $29.95 for Traffic and F-117A, and $44.95 for the others. However, it is up to the retailer to sell software for what they like - even as a loss leader. If you can get Cargo Pilot for $29.00 then I'd recommend you snap it up. We can't make it and ship it to the US for that price!More importantly, when comparing prices with our website, you should bear in mind the following:1) We sell boxed products for the same price as downloads. That's our policy. Download versions of our products are only available from the Just Flight website. If we were obsessed with spin we'd probably put a dummy price of
January 8, 200719 yr Spoken Like An American Small Business Man! Go-Ahead!I own a small computer shop in my home town and sell for much more than online! You sell it for what they will pay!! Thats Capitalism!Good Answer JustFlight!Gary
January 8, 200719 yr We can go on and on. For the Justflight guy here, i qive you credit atleast you had the bullocks to defend yourself. And to the other poster Randy Smith blaiming me for overpaying let me say this , get me one time shame on you get me twice shame on me. Also, Randy on another note go back to My first post and reread in the context of the use of "Moral" it wans't in terms of good / evil but more along the lines of "to sum this all up". Regardless of all the explainations still dosen't change the fact of WHY I posted in first place. I'm going that extra step to help out my fellow simmers maybe SAVE some money buy Warning them about a situation i ran into.Looking back in my posts i would harldly say i was moaning or trashing justflight company as a whole, thats why twice i added i felt they could charge whatever they wanted in my threads. I'm just doing a post consumer retrospect to let others get informed about their options so they can make educated decisions ;) Kampf
