January 8, 200719 yr That's the problem when you deal with an overseas company, you end up paying more due to added shipping or tariff costs, either directly by the customer or passed on by the sales establishment (Just Flight in this case!) . The same is also true in the reverse when they deal with American companies, that's why MS priced FSX much higher in Europe then it was in the US. So you see it works both ways! January 8, 200719 yr I have happily bought from both JustFlight and Play.com.Play.com have a no-returns/don't ask us for any help policy. JustFlight are experts in what they sell, and I would confidently expect help from them if I struck some installation problems.Up to the buyer to decide what he wants on a case by case basis. But if there wasn't a JustFlight left in the market, Play.com wouldn't have many flightsim products to sell!--Bryn
January 9, 200719 yr Hi Dermot,"Dermot StapletonOperations DirectorJust Flight Ltd(A British Company and proud to pay the VAT man for the privilege"You may be proud to pay the VAT man, but we aren't. (I suspect you aren't really either!).I don't object to paying taxes at all, but we donate VAT as a non returnable expense (as I think you are implying) and we get absolutely nothing back whatsoever: it is equivalent to a protection racket since we cannot ever recover it, despite the fact that we technically do not turn over enough to pay it. A higher authority pays it on our behalf and it disappears into the ether. On a more serious point still, it does look to American customers as though UK products are unreasonably expensive, but I concur with your underlying point which is that European VAT plus the dollar exchange rate conspire to make almost rock bottom prices appear positively exploitative. Incidentally, I wondered where you'd got to all this time. Happy to hear you are well and thriving.Kind Regards,Rob Young Robert Young - retired full time developer - see my Nexus Mod Page and my GitHub Mod page
January 9, 200719 yr Hi Dermot:I would like to say that I prefer to purchanse my add ons by download, from you and other sellers, becuase it's just more convenient--I dont have to either drive around to find things in the stores, or wait for CD ROMS to be shipped from Europe. If It costs me a few dollars more due to exchange rates or taxes so be it. I'm anxiously awaiting the FSX downloads for Flying Club X, could you get cracking on those please? Thanks ever so much :DRegards
January 9, 200719 yr I'm glad my sarcasm about supporting the VAT office wasn't lost! If you want to get upset about price differentials, compare the cost of, say, an X-Box 360 between Europe and the US. Flying Club X - all the aircraft will be available as FSX downloads in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, FSX upgrade patches for the original Flying Club aircraft are available on our site.
