May 26, 20215 yr Hey Guys. I have been dabbling with MSFS since the alpha but still not using it a ton. I had noticed when they had the Microsoft update (Think it was #2) they made ATL real nice. But then a future update really knocked performance back to unacceptable levels. I also read a thread on the official MS forum about this, but it appeared to be a problem faced by others but without a solution. So I'm wondering if you guys figured a way to fix this or if we are all in the same boat? If not fixable, is getting imaginsim's version the answer? 5800X3D, 4090FE, 64GB DDR4 3600C16, Gigabyte X570S MB, EVO 970 M.2's, Alienware 3821DW and 2 22" monitors, Corsair RM1000x PSU, 360MM MSI MEG, MFG Crosswind, T16000M Stick, Boeing TCA Yoke/Throttle, Skalarki MCDU and FCU, Logitech Radio Panel/Switch Panel, Spad.Next

I think the answer given in the first post of the May 26th Developer update will give you some insight. From what i,m reading they have acknowledged that they are aware of the degraded performance amount large airports and are looking into optimizations (They used KJFK as an example but any major airport of that scale falls into that category in my experience with the sim) Also it appears that they also intend to offload some glass panel cockpit workload to other cpu cores when they implement Directx 12. So i think in both cases if they are successful there will be an overall improvement. So yes we are still in the same boat but we may (or may not) get rescued soon. May 27, 20215 yr Every flight sim I've ever owned slows down at complex airports: FSX, P3D, XP, MSFS, so yes, I get slower frame rates at KATL, etc., vs. KIZG, for example. In MSFS, I have found that using an external frame limiter (RTSS) does keep things moving reasonably smoothly around 30 fps with the 99% frame rate at around 20. Not great, but my system is a few years old and uses an i7-7700K cpu and 1080 gpu, i.e., it's nothing special. Hope that helps. May 27, 20215 yr Trees....haven't tried it in this update...but setting them to low resolved it (or made it better anyway) in previous versions....did you check that? I can't recall if the last time I mentioned it to you, you tried it and it helped @micstatic?
