Aspen Extended

Featured Replies

I purchased Aspen Extended for P3Dv4,5...and it worked very well.

I now have P3Dv5.1 and I tried it,but there were huge wall looking things all over the runway.

I sent a report to Aerosoft....and they informed me that this software would not work in P3Dv5 !!

Does anyone know of a possible workaround

I really like the airport, but there doesn't seem there's any enthusiastic developer willing to upgrade to v5

There's probably an altitude change from 4.5 to 5. So to fix it, you need to change the altitude of the flatten and the airport ADE file. So to do this yourself you need airport design editor, which you can get for free and some experience working with it, which costs you some hours. I don't have Aspen Extended, so I can't help you there. Maybe someone else here has it and converted it for v5.

KASE Extended works well for me in v5.1.  I didn't try to install it into v5, but instead referenced v5 to the scenery that's installed into v4 by adding an entry in my xml scenery config (using the Lorby-SI P3D Addon Manager tool).

The v4 installer installs an altitude stub file that P3Dv5 does not need...if you installed using their installer into v5, perhaps the existence of that stub in v5 (near the bottom of the scenery list, named "Aspen Extended Altitude") is causing an issue.

I do not see any terrain anomalies around the field using the ref to v4 method.

As with Bob Scott's post, works fine for me also. Was originally installed into v4 and reinstalled on upgrading to v5.

Bob thanks for the advise.

I've never done a procedure involving the xml scenery config.

I am familiar with Lorby Addon Mngr. and use it frequently to straighten things out.

Can you explain in more easily understood laymans terms exactly how you accomplished getting

Aspen Extended into V5...

I'm a tad 'hardheaded' as you may have already guessed !!!

Thanks....Skip

I installed Aspen Extended normally with its installer into P3Dv4 (I have both v4.5 HF3 and v5.1 HF1 on my machine presently).

Using Addon Organizer, with "Prepar3D V5.0+" radio button selected, scenery tab, I click on "Add Scenery"
Select the radio button "Add to add-on.xml"
In Add-on.xml window select "-> Create a new one"
In Name enter "Aerosoft Aspen ->V4"
In Description enter "Aerosoft Aspen"
Click on "Select Scenery" and navigate to and select the "Aspen Extended" directory in the folder where the P3Dv4 version is installed
In Scenery Title enter the title of the scenery you want to see in the Scenery Library
Click "Submit"

If you don't have P3Dv4 installed, I'm not sure how to proceed...I don't know if the Aerosoft installer will let you point it to your P3Dv5 installation, or if you need a dummy P3Dv4 structure to get the installer to work.  Perhaps one of the other folks that installed it directly into v5 can help with that.

Do you mind if I ask 'how it was upgraded?"

Or did you do it yourself...as Bob did....I'm still having trouble getting it installed in V5.1
