BACKCOURSE AP?

Featured Replies

If I do a backcourse ILS approach and enable REV (“BC”) the LOC needle never centers – it gets close but flies parallel to the runway centerline, never maneuvering to seek the center position.

What am I doing wrong?

Did the ILS you were using have a Back Course approach on the chart?

I've only flown one BC approach so far in this sim (there has only been one for any of my destinations that was appropriate for winds) and the system locked on and flew it well (this was back in the Fall).

You can manually fly the approach, of course, but if you were flying it AP-coupled...

  • Did you tune the localizer?
  • Did you set up an intercept to the localizer?
  • Did you set the Nav type to LOC?
  • Did you press the BC button before intercept?
