Hi all,

Do dynamic lights have  stronger impact on FPS in P3D 5.2 vs 4.5?

I can run them fine in v4 but v5 I struggle, even with 2x MSAA or it turned off.

I am pushing the card - it is a 980 ti at 4K.  But does anyone else see dynamic lights having more of an impact in v5 vs v4?

Cannot comment on v5 but they work pretty well for myself in v4.5.

I lock @ 30 FPS via vsync and then tune P3D to gain max performance and look / feel based on my type of flying, although I can easily max out and thus overload my 1070Ti GFX card. Am hoping to get myself a 3080 Ti when there is afforability and availability movements.

For myself I pretty much always have a smooth 30 fps in the majority with the 1070 Ti.

I recogonize the same.

In 4.5 I dont have any isses or FPS impact with Dynamic light but in v5 I have a huge impact :(

Yeah, it's puzzling and unfortunate.

Using IniBuilds free DLs for many apt pay scenarios and some freeware, fps with DL ON improve.

Thanks Bob for the helpful suggestion!  I indeed do use the inibuilds profiles which help a lot.  I am more having problems with the aircraft's lights itself.

depends on the airport and how well the developer has done it.  Not to mention the gsx pushback trucks with pbr tank my frames,  so a combintaion of both gsx and badly done dynamic lighting will hit you.

for example ORBXs Split / GSX / FSL   = 14 frames.,  you can add to that list orbxs  LEBB, LGKO, EDDT, EGPH.   LGKO is horrific.  The gayasim guy should do what the fsimstuidios guy did and get Inibuilds to do his lighting for him.  

I do actually think v5 handles DL better than v4,  but DL is both hit and miss on both sims.

Ive always said it doesnt matter what gpu you have,  if you fly into a badley optimised airport, such as many of orbxs and aerosofts latest offerings (and theres plenty of them) your proformance will tank.  simple as that. 

no 30 page topics from IT gurus of graphs and charts needed.  Thats the harsh reality of it.

Yep there is some pretty awfully optimised stuff around.  I'm giving new sceneries a miss for the moment.  PBR etc is just a frame hog in the majority of cases, and who cares about PBR pushback trucks etc.

ORBX could do with pulling their socks up these days with their airport sceneries - so many badly optimised ones.

10 years or so ago, the day pay to beta came out (and the donuts in the community thought it was a good thing), it then gave developers a carte blanc to release substandard unfinished  products with the promise of fixing them later.  10 years later we have amassed a mountain of sceneries (with a quick down and dirty v4 to v5 conversation), with wrong ils frequecies, runways numbers, terrible dyanmic lighting and unoptimised textures. 

and then you have orbx/gayasim products with terrible dynamic lighting, let us not forget KOS was given away free because EGPH was so terrible and never fixed. Ive even seen members on this forumn complain about LEBB lighting and its awful proformance at night and then say "ah well its ok in the day, so I dont want a refund I just wont fly there at night"

you reap what you sow, if as customers we accept junk, then the developers will keep churning out junk,  simple as that.
