June 27, 20214 yr I have been with MSFS since its release last August. I only fly the FBW A320. I have just flown from Frankfurt to London, Heathrow. It was perfect, no stutters/freezes and even the ATC behaved themselves! Being a casual flyer the icing on the cake would be (as taken from the Aerosoft Airbus on FSX); the in-cockpit 'TRAFFIC - TRAFFIC' verbal warning when other aircraft get too close. The in-cockpit system that advises on 'Runway approaching, On runway etc'. The First Officer who has a cough, and the female flight attendant who offers me a drink in-flight (it never arrives!) Long may the smooth flights continue.
June 27, 20214 yr I purchased it as a pre-order prior to release. Once released I used it for a couple weeks and then decided to put it aside as I didn’t feel I was getting any enjoyment with it in its release state. Unfortunately it also ruined p3d for me due to seeing the capabilities of the scenery and environment that this sim has to offer, so I took a break from flight simming up until just about 2 weeks ago. I decided to give it another shot in hopes that while I was away some improvements would have been made and I am now finding enjoyment with the simulator, I feel it’s matured enough to get some enjoyment out of it now, and sure it will mature a lot more in the future. I’m only flying GA at the moment and having a great time, I’m really enjoying the hands on IFR flying. Hopefully ms is in it for the long haul because I can see this absolutely being the way to go in simming…the clouds, the visuals, the weather, the ground, the sunsets/sunrise..it truly is a great experience now, and sure to get better. Same same here. The role this proverbial 'eye candy' plays in the entire experience is so much more than 'candy', it's really balanced what flight simming needed to be, versus the 'cockpit simulation' that P3D emulates more than anything. Now, in MSFS I feel like I'm flying an airplane, rather than operating a cockpit simulator. When MSFS was suffering a few months back w/ those random unpredictable FPS drops I went back to P3D 4.5 for a couple of weeks. In order to cope w/ the absolute fake outside world I commited to flying in dim light only, dusk to dawn. A giant side benefit of this was I could finally fly into any big terminal in the PMDG birds by dialing Autogen and Vegetables ( to Sparse, LOD distance to medium, and enjoyed point-blank views in nice 3rd party airports w/ night lighting, and lost the entire need to enhance the sad outside world. It made flying ultra smooth and even stopped the notorious 'long frames' P3D 4.5 and 5.x are well known for. Alas, after MSFS resolved those FPS drops haven't been back to P3D. And after decades of FSX/P3D I fly now far more than I ever did. Should be astounding after PMDG gets its NG and 777 out, and can't wait for FSCaptain as well.
