One more the best shot!

Great shots......last one leaves no doubt where you're flying to. 🙂   (Pretty crazy when we can identify a place we've never been to in real life, and only recognize it by flying there several times in flightsim.) 🤣

To be fair...I have driven by in on I-10 before though. 😉

Hi Steve I was at 29 Palms for nine months and used to drive to Palm Springs most weekends.  Some of my shots show the abandoned MCAS El Toro my dad was stationed there and I lived there in the early 1970s.

I do love a Yak-18T but there is something seriously wrong with MSFS. I notice there is some weird black stain/shadow in the wing root area of MSFS aircraft ....here it is clear at the wing root and stabiliser /fin root.

What causes this?

I'm thinking bad shadow mapping on the model...but it seems to be on a lot (if not all...have not flown every plane in MSFS, yet, hehe).  Maybe its a bug in the sim render engine where large surfaces meet....not sure.

My brother-in-law was stationed there as an F18 instructor.  He got me in an hour in the static sim, it was a blast!

Its a shame with all the base closures.  I know we don't need as many as we did during the cold war, but if this administration has it's way, they consolidate all the branches into one, it'll have 4 people in it, one assigned to guard the North, South, East, West border.  They'll hand each a 22LR rifle (single shot of course because we can't be having high capacity mags in this country ya know. 😉), give them a folding chair to sit on to guard their coast, with instructions to shoot any enemies trying to cross our boarder in the leg. 🙄
