July 12, 20214 yr Got myself the Ryan ST, and rather like it. Also (and this is for @Dominique_K) I rather like the flat midwest states a lot - no boring mountains, lots of wide open spaces - and I think they illustrate just how good the basic MSFS scenery can look. So this was a 30 minute trip west out of KGLD, Renner Goodland Mun on the western edge of Kansas off towards Colorado. Now this is really low n'slow! I guess the appeal for me is just the whole wide open spaces thing. Here in the UK you won't find much flat open land for more than a mile without coming across another village or community of some sort. We don't do "horizon". I decided the pilot's name must be Dorothy. If you look closely you can just make out a double rainbow ahead so that all makes sense. No, you're correct, we're not in Kansas any more, Dorothy (just crossing in to CO) Never tire of exploring in this sim. Working my way round the French coast at the moment as well, just got a couple of big airports (Shanghai and Moscow) that I haven't explored yet, and there's Mexico, Peru, Chile all on the radar. And to think I used to have to spend all my time working. As someone once said to me "I was born to be retired" - a sentiment with which I fully concur. cheers, Andy Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. July 12, 20214 yr Wonderful screenies, and yes that's really flat. The advantage is, you can already see on Wednesday, who is going to visit you on Sunday. 😄😄 Any attempt to stretch fuel is guaranteed to increase headwinds My specs: AMD Radeon RX6700XT, AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, 32GB RAM, 34" monitor, screen resolution: 2560x1080
July 12, 20214 yr Love it! Flying that low can you see the waves in the wheat from your ground effects or stir up dust? With all respect due to my fellow simmers, I do not understand the threads requesting recommendations where to fly. But the world 😁 ! Ominous clouds, Dorothy, remember last time it ain't no good ! Love the pics. The Ryan looks cool enough but I have already plenty in my hands with three aircraft to learn ! You could certainly dump England down in Kansas and have room to spare and you'd probably be increasing the population there by a factor of a couple of hundred. 1 hour ago, fppilot said: Love it! And you know what, maybe they will do that one day. 1 hour ago, Dominique_K said: Never do I. Flat, hilly, spiky the world is here to be explored. It is just so immersive. I'm sort of curious about the big birds way up in the sky but when I go there it's such a different sort of buzz, and for me, nothing beats doing maybe 100 kts just a bit above the tree/roof line. As to where to fly - zoom in on the map, pick an airport pterry much at random, take off and turn left. That'll do it. (OK, bank to you port if you want to get all aviatorish about it!)
