ORBX Mumbai landmark scenery, The yacht is for FSX from Deltasim

Having been to Mumbai many times on business, this scenery was an instant must have. I only hope that the developers will one day also add Dehli, because this part of the world desperately needs more quality coverage.

Like in the good old days, I arrived at my destination by boat. But of course I did not expect to get the royal welcome treatment 🙂

Instead nobody bothered, which was fine of course

My preferred stay in Mumbai was the Taj, and if possible a room in the old wing. It gives you the feeling that the days of the Raj are back

The view from the hotel’s roof is quite nice

The swimming pool looks a bit better in reality, but that's alright

Of course the adjacent newer hotel complex offers from its top an even better view

An Indian business associate of mine invited me one day for lunch to the Royal Bombay Yacht Club (they never changed the name to Mumbai Yacht Club and dress code is strictly observed). But before we went there, he showed me a photo, quite similar to this one and asked me, which of these two buildings would I think to be the Yacht Club. I have been to the Karachi Yacht Club for lunch, so I pointed to the right building, as it looked very similar. Of course I was wrong, it is the red building to the left. The right one in this case is a hospital. A bit of trivia: when you enter the Yacht Club, it gives you again the impression that the British Raj has actually never left India. 🙂

The beauty of virtual travel is that you have the place you visit all to yourself. No pigeons, no vendors, no huge crowds and no one tries to steel your wallet

Wonderful shots Bernd, and great bit of travelogue. And you've just added another task to my seemingly never-ending list of sim-related jobs - convert some boats. That looks great (did you have to put the interior from the C54 in to make it work? <grin>.) I have mixed feelings about the Mumbai scenery, it doesn't feel like one of their best by any means, and feels a bit too 'toytown' in some of its textures. I think the problem for me is that the colours are all too uniform - in that where you have a big building or roof, there is no tonal change across the entire wall/roof, it's just one flat colour, which makes it feel like it's been created with a very basic modelling tool, almost like a kids' drawing package. And as not all scenery has that effect, not even all Orbx scenery, it must be possible to do it differently so I feel Orbx is not trying as hard as they used to. I found the same with Brisbane. But then Dubai felt much more polished.

But as you say, this has been a neglected region and I was happy to get this one myself. And yes, Delhi could be amazing.

Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used

A wonderful visit enhanced with commentary by an "insider." And I enjoyed the walking tour.

Very nice landscapes!

The good thing is, the interior of this boats also works in MSFS, so, this time no C54 panel 😄

I fully agree with your comment re the other ORBX landmark sceneries. For me the best ones are Singapore, Sydney and Dubai. I also have Brisbane, didn't like it too much, that is why I didn't buy Adelaide. ORBX must have developed a technique that allows them to turn out these cityscapes at a much faster pace now and given their new pricing structure, they sure want to go for the masses. If I have the alternative to choose between no cityscape at all or something like this for less than €10, I think I can live with the shortcomings.

Maybe we can brush up on our photoshop (or similar software) repainting abilities and make those lesser quality parts look more natural 😄

Have they modelled the RR Victoria Station ?

I was once in Bombay for a couple of days in the early 80s. I vaguely remember it and Elephanta. So long ago. You gotta love Anglo-Indian colonial architecture.
