it is not monitor settings as the washed out clouds with no detail also show up on Youtube videos and screen shots.

What? So what? Your monitor settings affect everything displayed on the monitor, including youtube videos and screenshots. You probably meant on a different monitor, though

Playing with the settings on your video card and SDR monitor so the game looks OK (but every other game now looks wrong)  just alleviates the symptoms for you at the time you are viewing it , the base problem remains.

If you  record the game and then watch YouTube with your modified monitor settings your personal recorded videos of the game will probably now look fine to you - but everything else on YouTube will look wrong.

If you record the game and then someone else plays it back on YouTube on another device they get the washed out over bright effect even watching the recording on a HDR television.  The missing dynamic and color gamut information is not magically restored by watching the video on a HDR screen retrospectively.

Sure apps like OBS can compensate for that but the base problem is in the way the game is rendering not the monitor settings or how the recording software is configured.

Oh, I see, you meant game-specific settings. Yeah, I thought you meant monitor settings, as in using the buttons to change brightness, contrast, and saturation (or global settings).

nice work, definitely too bright, hopefully they fix it.
