Reinstallation

I can't seem to get past my stuck/frozen while loading a flight so I am going to uninstall, reinstall.  Given this is my first time doing it with MSFS, how would it work in terms of reinstalling purchases such as planes and scenery, particularly on things from the marketplace?  Would i just go to the marketplace and update everything that I've purchased?  And for things I've put in the community folder, could I simply put the items in a different folder then copy them back into the community folder when the sim is reinstalled?

I've reinstalled a few times, if you have a decently fast connection, it's not all that painful. I don't keep everything in the marketplace installed anymore though, there is just too much content I own. I really only install things on an as-needed basis, especially if I just did a fresh reinstall.

You absolutely want to move things out of the community folder (backup) before reinstalling. Leave the community folder clean both before the uninstall and after the reinstall (initially), and then add that back last.

You should be using AddOn Linker though really, you can download it from Flightsim.TO, but don't worry about AddOn Linker right now, just use it in the future and it will make things easier.

Other than using Control Panel, Programs, uninstall did you do anything  else to clear out any stray fragments of MSFS before reinstalling?  I am currently sitting here uninstalled but see some left over folders.  I used Ccleaner Pro to do a registry check and nothing MSFS showed up.  But I cannot imagine the windows registry is void of all that was MSFS related.

I am waiting for the dust to clear with this update and hot fixes.  Reports of experiences are still all over the place.

I very very very highly recommend the free Addons Linker app.  It allows you to keep your addons anywhere you want to and when you use it to select what you wish to use it places Windows shortcuts to those items into your Community folder.  Makes it incredibly easy to manage the concern that you have.

I was gone for 3 months, and actually my last reinstall was 5 months ago, so I'm probably not the best person to advise.

That said, I believe I made sure all the major FS directories were clear, beyond that nothing special.

C:\Users\[YourUserName]\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache

Directory locations vary between STEAM and Microsoft versions, I haven't even messed with the Steam structure since amazingly I've never had to reinstall that version, only the Microsoft one have I really looked at.

Thank you much for that.

Another thing to try before a full re-install would be to delete all the contents of your user data folder (after backing it up) located in C:\Users\[YourUserName]\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe . It gets auto-generated when your run MSFS, so nothing to fear. Also make sure your Community folder is empty and no add-ons from Marketplace are installed.

So i have uninstalled and installed two times now and I still can't load a flight.  I get hung up about half way through the loading screen.  Any thoughts on what I can try next?  How would I enter a ticket if that is what i need to do?
